From the point of contact, Martin was extremely professional and reliable. The work was completed to an exceptional standard, which was exactly what I had asked for and invoiced at the original quoted price. I am so happy with the overall finish. Martin is a true craftsman and goes above and beyond to ensure his work is to a high standard.

We approached Martin because of the excellent work he had done for a friend. Martin's first visit was to discuss what we wanted, which was a cupboard built into an alcove to house a large ironing board, vacuum cleaner, carpet cleaner etc. We discussed materials, designs and budget and Martin made some useful suggestions, particularly regarding materials and best use of the space. He then took measurements of both the alcove and the major items to be housed. A couple of days later, Martin emailed detailed drawings and a cost estimate for our approval. We agreed the design and price, but Martin then submitted revised drawings as he had thought of some refinements he thought we might appreciate, which we did. He then set to work. A lot of the preliminary work was done in his workshop. We were away while our house was refurbished and Martin liaised with the workmen to complete the cupboard before our return. We left Martin with a house key so that he could come and go as necessary. When we returned we were delighted to find a beautifully made, beautiful looking cupboard. It is extremely sturdy and practical, but also much more attractive than we had expected, enhancing the room. The new cupboard was the only sign that Martin had been there; everything was clean and tidy. We have received many compliments about our cupboard. We opted to have Martin paint it, which seemed a bit extravagant at the time, but we are so pleased we did; the finish is excellent and one very few amateurs could achieve. Martin is that rare creature, a true artisan who takes great pride in his work. Martin's bill was as quoted and he finished ahead of time, despite the difficulties of social distancing with other workmen and sourcing materials due to the coronavirus lockdown. Martin is thoroughly reliable and trustworthy, friendly and approachable, whilst remaining respectful and professional and we highly recommend him.

I engaged Martin to design, build and install fitted wooden shelving. I had some clear ideas regarding the design and Martin was happy to run with these ideas, whilst guiding me on what was practical and aesthetically pleasing. Martin arranged for the shelves to be veneered in my choice of wood. In my project, Martin combined the skill of a woodworking artisan with the practical knowhow of a carpenter. The end product is attractive and beautifully finished. The project was completed on budget, with good communication throughout the various stages involved.

I am extremely pleased with the 2 alcove cupboards Martin designed and constructed for me. The quality of the work is high and Martin's knowledge of materials etc. was invaluable. He attended at agreed times and always left the work area clean and tidy when he'd finished. Also, he worked to the agreed budget. A very professional job and I would be pleased to use Martin again and to recommend him to others.

We wanted to install a custom TV Stand / cupboards and shelving unit in our living room and we found Martin’s details on the Nextdoor North East Mitcham website. Having carried out an inspection, Martin then provided a quote and scale plans. Once these were all agreed, Martin completed the job quickly and to a very high standard. We were delighted with the quality of the work and Martin’s professional attitude and would certainly use him again for future jobs.

Martin has done several projects for us over 15 years, including an alcove bookcase, a dressing table area and most recently smartened up our utility room with a varying depth frontage of shaker doors with great storage and the washing machine and tumble drier out of sight. Martin has good design ideas, gives very practical and helpful advice during the planning of the project and completes it all meticulously. You will know exactly the nature of the project and the cost before starting.

We are delighted with Martins work! From first contact through to the finished job, he was professional, helpful and fully understood our needs and what we wanted for our home. He was always on time and kept us informed on the project, and also cleared up afterwards. The dead space under our stairs is now a functional storage cupboard with a really beautiful finish. We've heard and read hundreds of horror stories about blindly finding skilled furniture makers online, so imagine our joy when we found a gem in Martin. We asked for his help in creating a custom under-the-stairs cupboard and wardrobe cover, and we couldn't be happier about the results! First thing we noticed was how professional and prompt he was in communicating. I first enquired through a private message on Houzz, and he offered to visit us to better assess our requirements. When he came, my husband and I had only been living for two weeks in our new place, so we were naturally very excited about customizing... just about everything. Instead of just jumping in on the job and taking advantage of our overeagerness, he graciously offered expert advice. He had us thinking about how we will really use the space, the pros and cons of fixtures, and the importance of 'not rushing into things'. We appreciated how he walked us through the process---taking measurements, presenting his sketches, specifying materials and the purpose of each. He was very thorough and patient in answering all our questions. Martin was also very professional in terms of keeping time, arriving on the dot on all our agreed-upon appointments. He kept his workplace (our tiny bedroom) tidy, cleaning up all the dust and wood shavings at the end of the day. His output was just as we had envisioned it to be---sturdy and well-made (perfect for an OC person like me who cannot help but inspect every nook and cranny!) When we asked for his help, we were just so focused on the function, but Martin has shown us how crafting and working with wood is also an artistic process. His creation genuinely reflected passion and pride in his work. And the price? So fair and on point! He charged as he had quoted, which helps when one has a strict budget. Overall, just how satisfied are we? Let's just say we are so chuffed, we're extending his scope of work for the third time. He hasn't even finished the wardrobes yet when we knew that we would like him to help us in installing a coat rack and putting up a painting. Martin installed a complete wall unit with shelving and cupboards. The basic design was ours, but Martin proposed a number of useful and practical changes which we accepted. He advised on the choice of materials and finish. He provided a detailed description and plans of the unit. He consulted us at every stage, so that the final result was precisely what we wanted. Martin was very professional throughout the installation process, paying great attention to every detail and focussing totally on the job. His work was to a very high standard and he always left the working area clean and tidy. We highly recommend his services and will employ him whenever a new project is to be done.

Martin converted the underneath part of our stairs in to cupboard storage. The whole process was brilliant, from discussing our options, agreeing the work, producing drawings to undertaking the work.
