When you start the process of renovation work, I think it is hard to understand how much trust you are investing in builders. In our case, when we lived above the first project we did, we really felt that reality and we were rewarded then and most recently by amazing quality, rational choices and advice, excellent budget management and continuous after support. This is MH Costa. Our project results are excellent. We haven't pulled out our hair during the process and not only that we are still on friendly terms! In all serious, we cannot recommend builders more fervently than MH Costa.

We had the pleasure of working with MH Costa on our family home in Barnes and I cannot recommend them highly enough. We have worked regularly with MH Costa for over 10 years and are always extremely pleased with the attention to detail the team exhibits whilst working on site and the high-quality finish that is delivered. Most of the work we do is predominantly on Listed Buildings, requiring things to be done in a very specific manner and within tight constraints, and MH Costa have proven themselves to be more than up to the task. By keeping most of their trades in house, and sub-contracting only specialist items and finishes, MH Costa are able to maintain a greater control over cost, timings, finishes and the finer details of a design – having their own in-house joinery workshop is a massive benefit too! MH Costa communicate well, and are very collaborative, throughout each project we have worked with them. When faced with an unexpected site condition or issue, MH Costa have always been proactive in working with us to find a solution and try and keep the project on track and on budget. Their work is always undertaken in a very professional manner, and are great at liaising with the neighbours throughout a project, keeping them appraised of any particularly noisy works and accommodating requests to minimise the impact on them – something that our clients are always very appreciative of! If something is wrong, they put it right without question. On our experience, we would recommend MH Costa to any client seeking a contractor capable of a high-quality finish with a keen attention to detail. We have always worked well with them and look forward to doing so again in the future.

When we decided to embark on our second London property renovation there was really only one company we considered. Having worked with MH Costa the first time 10 years ago we knew they’d serve us well again even though this new project was significantly more complex and on a greater scale. The professionalism and attention to detail runs all the way top down from the founder Manuel; all the workers are extremely competent and reliable. No task is ever too big or difficult to address and they provide knowledgeable and sound advice on complex issues. We would highly recommend them.

Mh costa have done a large structural renovation for our family home completed in the summer of 2024- this included a dormer, a basement dig, vast structural work to make large open plan areas of the existing structure and full re decoration and redevelopment of pretty much all surfaces - bathrooms, kitchens, bedrooms - you name it. We have found them extremely personable, professional and their wide range of in house skill sets really helped to make the project as seamless as it could be given the task. The communication of the team with us was at all times fabulous, and this really helped us to work together to get the final build quality and look that we wanted. In addition we received multiple positive feedback from third parties we had brought in (including av, lighting & kitchen designers) to say how flexible and easy they were to coordinate with (which apparently can be a bit of a rarity). The site manager, project manager and entire team were extremely polite, helpful and always offered constructive professional and personal opinions and help with any questions we had - so a really beneficial working relationship was maintained for the entirety of the build with us and our architects (and since with any follow up queries we’ve had) - these qualities also allowed them to manage and maintain a good relationship with our neighbours during the build (phew!). Overall very happy!

We would recommend the team at MH Costa who managed the refurbishment of our mid victorian house . Indeed we enjoyed working with one core team throughout the project , under the watchful eye of Andre and the careful management of Emerson. This was a year long project , with work on all parts of the building , from top to toe , installing solar roof tiles ( we are in a conservation area) and a heat pump, to building an extension. I opted for weekly site meetings , with regular management information and cost analysis , so I always knew where we were and why . And the attention to detail was high . So far I’ve had great after care too!

Im so impressed with MH Costa. My build was a very big one and took roughly 3 years to complete. They were such a great company to work with, honest, friendly and very professional. The house turned out amazingly well and has since gone viral on Instagram etc. Nothing was too big or too small for them to deal with and their workmanship spot on. I highly recommend them.

We have been extremely pleased to work with MH Costa Construction Ltd on three sizeable private residential projects for which were the appointed architects. The most recent of these, completed earlier this year, involved the the merging of two flats in Hampstead into a sizeable garden maisonette. Before that they had completed the full refurbishment of another client's Grade II listed house on a very tight and challenging site in the City of London, and prior to that - on our first job with them - they enlarged and transformed a large detached 1930s house in West Hampstead. In our experience they carry out each of their jobs in an extremely calm and well-planned way and their workmanship on each of the above job was exceptionally good. They also have the benefit of an in-house joinery workshop which gives them greater control than many firms are able to offer, both as to the timing of the project and for the detailing of its internal finishes. MH Costa clearly take great pride not only in the quality of their work but in being able to advise their clients on potentially good value and readily available sources for the key finishing elements such as hardwood flooring and porcelain or marble tiling. Based on our experience on the three projects described above - two of which were won following a competitive tender, with the other having been a negotiated contract - we definitely recommend that clients who are looking for that level of attention to detail contact MH Costa Construction Ltd to discuss their project with them at an early stage as to their availability.

We were the architects for a high value residential refurbishment in North London for which MH Costa (MHC) was the main contractor. MHC were exemplary. They will never I suspect be the lowest price, but the premium paid is more than worth it in terms of the exceptionally high quality of the work delivered, the highly professional and collaborative nature of their team and the superb customer relations and post contract service they provide. One of the best experiences I have had with a contractor on high end residential work in nearly thirty years working in the sector.

Andre (project manager), Fernando (site manager) and their team were an excellent team to work with for our renovation. They carried out our full house renovation of a listed property over the course of 10 months. This included; reconfigurations of top floor rooms, full plumbing and electrical work, a new extension with flat roof/ terrace above. Their team is completely made up of their own employees each excellent in their own trades, only two sub-contractors were used on the whole project, for the roof and the external facade. Their knowledge and professionalism is second to none, along with being a really friendly group to work alongside. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them and in fact have already done so. It should be noted they also managed to complete this project through the uncertain times of the first covid lockdown, with tricky supply issues.

I am an Architect and for over a decade I have returned to MH Costa Construction again and again for work on a range of projects for clients with award winning results including an RIBA Award. Our most recently completed project was the construction of our own house. It was a complex build on a tight urban site and we are very pleased with the result. In my experience Costa are competitive, responsible, and capable.

MH Costa completed a total renovation and new services of a Grade II Georgian house, which was converted into administrative office. Their attention to detail is outstanding and we were kept informed through the process and program. Works were completed both within the budget and on agreed time-scale. I appointed MHCosta after they had been recommended to me by my architect who had heard about them and had visited previous projects. Their company works in a highly professional manner. My refurbishment project was a demanding project with luxurious materials and much detail especially with regards to carpentry. All the people involved in my project knew the work well and were familiar with the complexities involved; they were able to work without creating problems to the common area and other property owners in the building and without making mistakes that would result in delays and extra costs for me; they were able to anticipate problems and solve them in advance. Their work was at all times tidy. They had good planning, were not delayed in their scheduled timetable , were always willing to do their outmost to make things work and their final job is of a very high standard. Working relations with my team of professionals and myself had been excellent and time went by smoothly. I can also say that the company seems to have a very good working environment with happy relationships amongst their workers which is a big plus on the work place. Their very good knowledge of the plans made a difference for me as they could easily read and understand what was expected at any time and did not miss out on every little detail. Very polite people. The best ever. Fabulous friendly and precision work. The 2 bedroom flat needed total re-doing for a disabled owner. The entire workforce was friendly, respectful and super tidy and clean. Their patience was remarkable. Toilets needed raising to meet specs. This was done cheerfully, even though some additional tiles had to be ordered. We would recommend this fabulous company to all people who like great workmanship.

The most organised office I have ever worked with. They are very knowledgable, accurate with their prices and have a very good quality.

Manuel Costa was our contractor for the renovation of our house in Chelsea. The job mainly entailed: a complete renovation of the plumbing and the electric system, installing new bathrooms and a new kitchen, building a new shower room from scratch, fitting wood flooring and isolation throughout the house and building bespoke wardrobes in every room as well as bathroom cabinets. We highly recommend Manuel Costa's company. The level of ingenerring is outstanding (for example, the hot water works perfectly and instantly, a rare feature in London!), the bespoke joinery is very high quality and exactly what we wanted, the kitchen is beautifully fitted (even the kitchen provider told us he had rarely seen such a good fitting job) and everyone working in the project was a pleasure to be around! Manuel himself was very helpful, always available when we needed him and providing great advice and solutions. The job was delivered on time and on budget.

Full redecoration work for a Victorian house. Manuel Costa – Owner of MH Costa - supervised the quote and work himself. It has been a unique experience as Manuel is very professional with a strong expertise, we did not need an interior designer. He has been instrumental on the project from managing the drawings, the work schedule, the choice of materials ( very much attached to the details and the best value for the money option), the management of the team and the delivery timeline. The overall experience with MH Costa company has been a success : no real delays, accurate quotes for the original workload and the additional works, strong expertise, professionalism, best advice, and quality of the work.

The grade II listed house we bought was grossly neglected over 50 years. As a result, it needed a complete refurbishment from roof to basement, external to internal. The experience we had with MH Costa Construction was unparalleled. From management to individual workman, without exception were all professional, respectful, diligent and detail oriented. The company's electricians, carpenters, plumbers and tilers delivered high quality work and finish. Our project manager at the end didn't even need to close the account because the company was so honest with their work. We were truly lucky.

We selected MH Costa based on a recommendation from a friend and couldn't be happier with our decision. My wife and I planned a ground floor extension and refurbishment. Neither of us having done anything like this before we leant heavily on the expertise of the team from MH Costa. They were everything we could have hoped for - the team on site were professional and made life with our neighbours easy throughout the construction as they were always tidy and courteous, (even helping one neighbour with an odd job they needed completing for free). Anton our project manager understood our requirements and provided great ideas on how to realise them within our budget - nothing was too much trouble. Manuel, (the boss) was involved throughout, even though we were one of their smaller projects. His vast experience of period properties was extremely valuable and many of our initial thoughts were improved on through his suggestions. A great example of this was the inclusion of reclaimed york stone in the kitchen (probably our favourite element of all). Great team. Overall, highly recommended.

Manuel has excellent general building knowledge established over more than 25 years. His team recently refurbished my 5-storey home in central London (O Yard). He has a strong team including plumbers, electricians, carpenters and decorators all of whom have very good attention to detail. The project was particularly challenging because of the lack of outside space; all the rubbish was bagged and removed from site with no fuss or inconvenience to the neighbours. Manuel is very easy to work with; flexible, straight-forward and has plenty of ideas to contribute to a successful project. Highly recommended.

Manuel and his team are very professional. I have built a one room extension and refurbished my entire flat within 14 weeks changing the layout entirely. We have created a much bigger one bedroom flat with much better living areas and hidden storage solutions with a very contemporary look. The project ran on time and my neighbours commented how courteous and tidy the builders were on a day to day basis. The result is outstanding quality and a very contemporary flat that I am very happy with. I would recommend MH Costa for building works for any scale of project.

We have used MH Costa three times in the past four years and would happily do so again. We had hired two other highly regarded Conservation Builders on a large complex renovation before and neither were able to complete the project to the standard required. MH Costas electricians and plumbers sorted out all the issues and completed the renovation which required multiple specialist trades. Workmen are very respectful, tidy and their attention to detail is excellent.

We used M H Costa for a total refurbishment of the N Road house. The level of craftsmanship they provided allowed the architect to bring the house back to it's period routes using good design executed beautifully by the Costa team. The team were impeccable effective with their time, they worked cleanly and left no margin for error. They stayed on track and were (give or take 3%) within the initial price for the tendered job. I found them a real pleasure to deal with and we could not be happier to live in what is now our beautiful home. I would have absolutely no reservation in recommending them to anyone committed to doing a project well.
