“As a complete neophyte to the world of home renovation, I was faced with so many choices and decisions and had no clue where to start in transforming a gutted 1970s kitchen to something new and contemporary. It was great to work with Barb and gain the assurance she provides during such a huge undertaking and expense. With her help I made choices I could live with and within my budget. Whether helping me select paint colors, meeting me at the tile store overwhelming in options, or showing where to economize and to splurge, Barb was with me step by step so that ultimately everything worked together in the end. Now, I have a kitchen that, even three years later, is still a joy to walk into, to cook in, eat in and relax in. She went beyond the norm to take time with me and help me understand what was happinging and to reflect my realities and preferences in the process. Building on her sense of optimum cabinetry arrangements and how to maximize limited space, she also brought a sense of style, design and color that helped in a big way to realize a kitchen beyond functional and modern to exciting and beautiful. “Westend Bath and Kitchen has two stores near my house. Everytime I need a plumbing related item, they vcome up with the best product within my budget. They are very good at honoring their warranty as well. I purchased about 11 diffrent items including a light fixture for our dining room over the years. We will go back if and when an item is needed without thinking twice.”

“Detail by Design prepared our kitchen design to renovate and fully update the "cottage" kitchen that existed in the home we bought. I love cooking and entertaining, as well as just relaxing and enjoying my kitchen space. These facts were incorporated in an elegant, functional, and very pleasing kitchen design such that this room has become the new favorite visiting area. Suggestions as to specific design/layout, cabinet features, sink & faucet styles, lighting, and appliances were provided; options discussed; and items sourced. Similarly, the necessary contractors were hired and organized such that installation was smoothly completed. Our experience with Detail by Design was very good and I would readily recommend the company.”

“Emma and her entire Grassroots Design & Build team provide an incredible product at competitive pricing without any of the BS. While I have not (yet) hired Grassroots to work on my own home, I have now photographed over a dozen projects by them varying in scope and scale. From accent furniture in a sitting room to a complete rebuild of a kitchen and bathroom, I've found Emma's taste to be one of classic beauty. Not everyone lives in an ultra-modern clean home, not everyone has the budget to re-construct their entire house. Emma comes in with her team and re-builds what is required preserving the feel and taste of the home and owner at any budget. I've seen kitchens using Ikea cabinets with very classy design touches to stay on budget, or a fully-outfitted bathroom with no expense spared. A contractor and designer in-one, I've found her work to be thorough and well executed from concept to finished product. If you have an old home, or just a new one that needs a touch of class, I would recommend Grassroots for this work.”

“Manotick Kitchen and Bath was contracted to completely remodel the master living quarters and kitchen. Custom cabinetry and design which involved moved walls, windows, doorways , custom flooring and elaborate millwork and extravagant fixtures were provided. The MKB team did an exemplary job on this major renovation which exceeded the original timeline by just a week. This in itself was most welcomed given the number of design changes we requested mid project. I would recommend MKB without reservation for the complete home remodel. Thanks to Mike and the guys!”

“We hired Distinctive Kitchens and Baths (DKB) to design and install a new shower for our ensuite in our new home. The builder had originally installed a small, basic corner shower and we were looking for other options. DKB visited our home, took measurements, offered us options and prepared a written quote the listed all the tasks and materials required to complete the job. The job required the removal of the old shower and the bulkhead that was above it, moving the plumbing in the floor and wall to accommodate the new shower, installing a knee wall, cement board, shower base, tiling, plumbing fixtures, and new customize shower surround. The project also required that the ceiling be repaired as a result of removing the angled bulkhead. DKB sent in all the different trades to handle each job. All the trades laid down floor covers to protect our homes and all were professional, courteous and very friendly. Every day DKB dropped by our home to ensure that everything was going well and to answer any questions that we may have. The project was delivered on time and on budget.”
