She really listened to what we wanted to accomplish during the initial consultations, and provided several plans to choose from: the final plans that emerged were exemplary. Natalain did a great job of coordinating the various contractors, from masonry to wood work to electrical to final installation, and the project coalesced perfectly. “Aitken & Associates considered all of the elements we wished to include in the landscape of our home, together with the grading plan of our lot, and came up with a design that could accommodate our wishes. We have been enjoying the result for 10 years now, with my only regret being the things I changed on my own from the written design plan as we were executing, thinking I had just come up with "better" idea. Wrong! They know what they're doing, and you can be sure its been thought all the way through. Everyone in the office was great to work with, returning phone calls and emails in a timely manner, and showing up for scheduled appointments on time. Our design plan was done when they said it would be, and we went straight to the City to get our permits. Which brings up another thing: Aitken & Associates was clearly familiar with our City ordinances because upon review by the City, there was nothing in our landscape design plan that we couldn't get permitted. We were very pleased with Aitken & Associates.”

“We found Kim after putting together a design book on houzz.com. Looking through the photos, we had chosen 4 of Kim's design photos completely by accident. We reached out to her and setup an appointment to get together. She is extremely professional, explained her services, what we could expect to pay and provided references and sample design schematics from other jobs. The thing that struck us right away is that she was walking our property identifying all the plants by their scientific names and could explain why each one was doing well or doing poorly. After hiring her, she took very detailed measurements, photos and ground samples. She look through the Houzz book we created, asked us questions about how we intended to use different aspects of our space and generally get a feel for what we liked and wanted. She came back with an initial design which we reviewed in person and the first draft was great. We had a few changes and she went off to make some changes, etc. She had researched everything about our property including local zoning set-back requirements! She was awesome and we're very pleased with the final design. We are currently getting bids for landscape builders to make our final vision come to life and look forward to showing the pictures of her amazing work when we're able to!”

“We can not recommend Hallie and Armando highly enough. We unfortunately neglected our landscaping over the past few years and it had gotten a little depressing, so we were looking for a partner to reinvigorate our property. We met with several companies but chose Tierra Madre for a few reasons: Hallie is a horticulturist at heart - she has an incredibly deep knowledge of all plants and their pros/cons and she really does a great job balancing aesthetics, working with/relocating the plants that we had and loved and selecting new plants that will truly thrive in our environment and, in our case, require modest maintenance and care. We also loved Tierra Madre's entrepreneurial, small-company, local feel. We loved working directly with the principals. The design process was really seamless - Hallie quickly produced designs that were very much in line with our guidance and delivered them in a really easy-to-visualize software platform. We quickly agreed on a plan and kicked off the work. While we naively thought that replanting would be relatively simple, there was a ton of work that went into the job and Armando and his team were working at our house for a couple weeks. They were all incredibly hardworking, nice and respectful - our dog fell in love with them and spent most of the day outside with them. They felt like part of our family and we were honestly disappointed and sad to see them leave once they were finished. They did a great job planting the new additions, rebuilding our irrigation and adding new fencing. Ultimately, we are extremely happy with the end product. Like mentioned in another review, we needed a few months to see the plants truly mature into their full beauty. The plants have grown materially and are really blossoming now and everything is beautiful. Hallie has kept in close touch and is happy to provide feedback/assistance as questions have arisen about ongoing care/pruning/fertilization/etc. We get frequent compliments on our landscaping and always recommend Tierra Madre. We will absolutely turn to Hallie and Armando for any future landscaping projects.”
