About Us

Chiltern Garden Design is the brainchild of passionate gardener and talented designer Sam Proctor, MSGD, MAPL. Sam has been creating beautiful gardens for herself and others for years, and studied at the prestigious London College of Garden Design, where she honed her design skills more fully after leaving a City career in Marketing. Her passion is creating gardens to suit the needs and lifestyle of her clients, never imposing a one-size fits all solution, but finding a style and scheme to fit the complex needs of busy families. Sam has lived in the Chilterns for years, falling in love with its rolling hills, gorgeous old market towns and ancient beech woods full of bluebells in the spring. She’s now made Amersham her home, and works mostly on domestic garden projects across the whole Chilterns area including Chesham Bois, Great Missenden, the Chalfonts, Beaconsfield and Seer Green, Wendover, Aston Clinton and beyond. In 2024 she'll be bringing her design flair to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. She has designed the Water Saving Garden, sponsored by Affinity Water, highlighting the the urgent need to save and re-use rainwater in our gardens.

We asked Chiltern Garden Design to prepare and implement a planting plan to bring our walled garden to life. They have done a brilliant job, bringing together a range of unusual plants, trees and shrubs to ensure it looks great all year round with relatively little maintenance. Sam has also been a font of knowledge and help with a range of other areas such as dealing with honey fungus, managing some invasive weeds in the lawn and putting up a living roof on our garden shed. I could not recommend her more highly.
