John Davies Landscape is a dynamic design and project management studio with a fast growing reputation for creating beautiful and elegant garden spaces imbued with an atmosphere of peace and refinement. The studio’s style is both architectural and contemporary, with plants placed at the heart of each design. Water is often included, and the results lift the spirit and inspire the soul.
John received the much-coveted Future Designer Award 2014 from the Society of Garden Designers for his work on a new residential development in Swiss Cottage. Following this success, he was invited to lecture at the 2015 Society of Garden Designers’ Autumn Conference, John lectured on the topic of “Small but perfectly formed”. 2020 has already brought major success as John was announced winner of the Grand Award at this year’s Society of Garden Designers Awards for his London roof terrace project, Stylus 116 Old Street. This represents a major milestone in the evolution of the Studio and is one that John is keen to build on.
Graduating from the London College of Garden Design with a Distinction, John also scooped up the Best in Year Award. His background, beginning with an MA in English Literature from Cambridge University followed by an initial professional career in the world of Opera, has taught John valuable lessons about lyricism, harmony, rhythm and counterpoint that apply in equal measure to the world of garden design.
An innate sense of spatial awareness and theatricality, informed by realizations of some of the world’s greatest operas, are concepts constantly informing his creative vision. The studio is currently working on a refreshingly varied international portfolio of projects ranging from small scale domestic gardens to midscale residential developments as far afield as China and California.
