“I'm a resident in a 12 townhome "U"-shaped community with a courtyard and two "wing yards" stretching along the public sidewalk. Our landscaping at the beginning of the year (2016) consisted of 15 full grown trees, some shrubs, and struggling ground cover with a great deal of bare areas. The 30-foot trees dominated the landscape, inhibiting plant variety for lack of sunlight. Additionally, when it rained we experienced soil erosion spreading mud over the public sidewalk and courtyard walkway when it rained. This spring we (the townhome owners) decided to contact McAdam Landscaping for a remedy. Our contact person was Scott McAdam who presented us an elegant design. It called for the removal of all but two of the trees, arranging to have Davis Tree Care to handle that aspect (which they did very professionally), and the substitution of six ornamental trees and a wonderful variety of shrubs, conifers, perennials and ground cover laid out in a flowing, very aesthically-pleasing arrangement. The graphic plan placed little demand on us to envision what it would look like in the end. Scott worked with us to make a few minor adjustments that reduced the cost appreciably without departing from the overall design, displaying patience as we worked through the cumbersome internal process of deliberation, approval and payment collection. The plan was approved by the owners of all 12 townhomes at the very end of August and the job was completed in September. We are quite pleased with the final product. The mud erosion problem has been arrested. A neighbor who is an experienced gardner herself shared this: ""Scott's thoughtful design and vision has brought new energy and fluidity to our community courtyard. The use of native plants addresses our need for a low maintenance, high impact green space pleasing to the eye, and increasing our property value & appearance." Another neighbor added: "I also really appreciate his [Scott McAdam's] attention to color in all seasons. I loved how the bushes and trees turned this fall, and look forward to seeing the colors in the other seasons as well." The frog of a landscape we began the year with has been kissed. “I recently bought a house in which the inside was practically brand new but the outside was in terrible shape. To be honest, from the outside, it was probably the ugliest house on the block. Most of it was made up of unkept grass, roots & weeds everywhere, and big patches on dirt. Along with that, the front walkway was old, cracked and uneven with the foundation of the house. Saying itneeded a ton of work would be an understatement. I contacted Bear Landscaping and sat down with Mike to come up with a plan based on my needs and wants and my price range. The plan was to put down brand new sod, rip up the front walk & porch and put in a paver walk & porch, put in a flagstone pathway on the side of the house and put in a paver patio with pillars, a wall and a gas fire pit in the backyard. BL then provided me with a digital layout of the final project and we tweaked a few things based on my personal preference. Then I was able to go to the local Unilock with Mike to pick out my pavers. I have never done this before and Mike was very helpful and honest in assisting me with finding a paver that I liked, that would fit in my price range and would blend in well with the house. Now with the planning done and the orders placed, the project was underway. They started by ripping up the front walk & porch along with various dead plants in the yard. The completed the front porch & walk in a matter of three days while also tackling other projects in the yard. Next was the back patio, which was the biggest part of the project. This only took about a week to complete, again, while working on other projects in my yard at the same time. Finally came the flagstone path and the sod. The entire project took about three weeks to complete due to some hold ups with the weather. To be honest I was amazed at how quickly they got all this done. They essentially gave me a brand new, stunning yard in three weeks. Along with all this work BL planted various plants, bushes and trees upon my request as well. They were extremely knowledgable about what types of plants and trees I needed based on the conditions where they were being planted and my reasoning behind wanting them. I was truly amazed and speechless at the overall transformation that took place. I have my dream yard. One of my new neighbors came up a few days after completion and said, "you have, by far, the nicest house on the block." He mentioned how other neighbors he had talked to said similar things and that they were so happy that someone bought the house who cared about what it looked like. While I do care quite a bit about my yard, without the work of Bear Landscaping, there is no way this would have been possible. Along with that, I had at least eight people come up and ask for BL's information because of how amazed they were at the work that had been done. Beyond the unbelievable work that BL did to my yard, what impressed me the most was the hard-working, well-mannered and truly caring individuals that worked on my yard. They were in heat in the upper 90s on some days and that did not stop them. There were days where they worked past 7:00 pm, and they came out on the weekends. The workers were very particular about their work and if something wasn't done exactly how they wanted it, they would continue to work on it until it met their standards. Beyond their high standards, they were such friendly people who I was honestly sad to say goodbye to. I can't find the right words to sum up how thankful I am and how happy I am to have chosen Bear Landscaping to do my yard renovation. It's my first house and it's turned into my dream because of the work they've done and I honestly can't imagine moving again because of how happy I am with how my yard looks. I would highly recommend BL to anyone. Mike and his workers are upstanding individuals who truly care about their customers. They cater to your needs, they are very reasonable price-wise, but most importantly they want their customers to be happy and they will do all that it takes to achieve that!”

“Spirited Gardner Julia Bunn in 2014 helped us design and build a rain garden for our condo that successfully and beautifully diverts storm water into our front yard in Chicago. Julia clearly explained which native plants would do well in our shady, sandy spot, and she provided us a clear map for our new garden. On "dig day" she did an excellent job of corralling our volunteer crew to ensure we correctly dug our rain swale and planted our plants. Julia also provided guidance over the summer on routine care and on how to put our garden to bed for the winter. I'm looking forward to seeing our rain garden evolve as it matures over the years. Overall, hiring Julia has been one of the best investments our condo has made in the past decade.”

“Hired Hytech for my project in March 2018 they did a great job very responsive to my calls and concerns . The buildout took 5 weeks which was a week over what they discussed but it was due to weather issues . I had a small sink spot in October they sent a repair crew out within 2 days . I’m very pleased and I recommend this company to anyone . Hytech is very large company and most be don’t like dealing with big companies but I must see it’s better .”
