We engaged van Ellen & Sheryn in 2013 to assist with the design of and planning for a new build house in Totnes, Devon which my family and I now very happily live in. We worked mostly with Eilir Sheryn who showed enthusiasm, skill and experience in helping us navigate our way through the project. In particular he was willing and able to follow our brief in respect of design and budget which, in our experience, not every architect will do. All of the staff at the firm are personable and professional and we would not hesitate to recommend them ( we have on two occasions ) and we are in fact currently discussing a new project with Eilir. Upon completion our house was featured in Homebuilding & Renovating magazine and will also appear the TV series " Building the Dream " sometime in 2016..........testament to a job well done. As a developer I need an architect who can design a home that is commercially viable, economical to build, takes advantage of the plot it is to be built in and above all has wow factor. Geoff delivers on all counts and together with his support team ensures that I have all the tools to complete a successful project. I thoroughly and confidently recommend Geoff, and the PWCR practice, and will definitely use him for my next project.

A really outstanding business. We used the team at Woodford to help us update an old Rectory we had purchased. Gavin developed the new design for our kitchen, en-suite master bedroom and two other bathrooms. He picked up very cleverly on existing design elements of the original Georgian rectory and incorporated these into a modern but appropriate twist for the new designs. We ended up following all Sarah's proposals for flooring, wall colours, kitchen & bathroom fixtures & fittings. She also developed beautiful ideas for curtains and roman-blinds and was able to recommend a great local company who provided the fabrication (and who did a really good job on this). In summary, their advice and professionalism was wide-ranging, great value-for-money and time-generous. Gavin & Sarah and the team at Woodford absolutely exceeded our expectations.

From our first meeting with ‘the Nicks’ we were immediately struck with their enthusiasm and insight into our project. We were impressed with the time and dedication they showed in producing a very well laid out and costed specification based on our initial plan. They are very particular paying careful attention to detail and have built up an excellent team of skilled contractors who all worked to an extremely high standard. They managed to work around us, whilst we continued living in the property, ensuring that we had basic services available at all times - much appreciated in the winter months. During the build Nick Turner was onsite to supervise, and otherwise, was quick to respond to email and texts and kept us informed of any delay or snags. Nick Crick (Customisation King) proposed practical solutions to any problems that arose and they were both particular in leaving the site immaculate at the end of the project. They proved flexible and always listened to our requirements producing a superb end result. Team William Bowley take great pride in their work and we would not hesitate to recommend them for your project. Andy & Trisha B. - April 2016
Fitzgerald Architecture

My wife and I appointed Fitzgerald Architecture to draw up plans for our project to completely renovate and remodel a bungalow we had purchased in Sway, Lymington. We contacted a number of architects to discuss the project and John Fitzgerald appeared to us to be the one we felt best understood our requirements. He was also completely transparent about what his obligations would be under the contract and also his fees, which we considered to be very reasonable. Once we had approved the final drawings, John submitted them for planning permission and sent the building contract out to tender. He was involved in interviewing potential builders and helping us decide which one to accept. Whilst the renovation was taking place, we were in rented accommodation necessitating a three hour drive to and from the property and because of that we were unable to visit the site as often as we would have wished to monitor progress. We found John’s regular weekly site visits, written reports and phone calls invaluable in flagging up various issues, e.g. where the builders had deviated from the plans without seeking prior approval. The property was also subject to two restrictive covenants, one being in favour of Network Rail which proved unbelievably protracted in obtaining the necessary permission. As well as myself, John spent time on our behalf tracking down the relevant contact within Network Rail (in itself no easy task!) and discussing the project with them. One of our most important requirements was to have a hot water underfloor heating system installed and John spoke to the technical departments of a number of suppliers on our behalf to enable us to decide on the most appropriate choice. He also liaised with various other suppliers, including our chosen kitchen supplier. During the course of the project, which ran from late December 2017 until the end of October 2018 we had various meetings at John’s office as well as on site and also numerous lengthy phone calls. We came to know John, not only as an architect, but also more as a trusted friend who was always prepared to go that extra mile for us. We trusted him to deliver and he did not disappoint, as we found him to be totally reliable and of the highest integrity. Throughout the project we encountered new obstacles on an almost daily basis, all of which John guided us through with sound advice, making himself available to us at almost any time of day. His methodical and extremely thorough professionalism gave us absolute confidence that our project was being handled to the highest standard. We were extremely pleased with the final result and considered that our decision to select the services of Fitzgerald Architecture was absolutely the right one. Undoubtedly they had gone far above and beyond their contractual obligations, and that in turn took many of the pressures of a complicated, stressful and time-consuming process from our shoulders. During the course of our project I know John was working on a number of other projects too, but to us it never felt that way. He was totally reliable and when he promised something by a certain date he always delivered; it almost felt like our project was the only one. I’m delighted to whole-heartedly recommend his services to anyone looking for a reliable and trustworthy architect.

I found Verity through a contact to help complete the planning stage of an extension that had become bogged down. She brought a highly structured approach to the process and good insights, imagination and flexibility to the development of the design. She was able to give a good steer through the various planning process hoops with an ultimately successful outcome - that despite the best efforts of the planners. I would very happily recommend her to others undertaking similar work.

Having been used to furnishing period properties, I suspected I would be in trouble when I purchased a large, square-roomed flat with no intrinsic features to guide me. Fortunately I found Lisa who, over a period of several months, has delivered a home that is both stylish and comfortable. She is very professional and needed to be extremely patient, since I knew what I didn’t want rather than what I did. After an initial meeting on site she produced mood-boards that were subsequently added to and subtracted from. Having sourced pieces that she felt would work Lisa accompanied me on two days of pre-arranged meetings with suppliers, her presence being invaluable in keeping me focused. She ordered items once decided upon and arranged for their delivery, which sometimes required time-consuming input on her part since I am absent from the UK for periods of time. Lisa has great ideas, is a delight to work with and really cares about what she does. In short, I have no hesitation in recommending her to anyone seeking a thoughtful, talented and pro-active interior designer.

We are glad to hear that Lucinda now has several new projects including the renovation of a restaurant and bar.

I have asked the Woodhouse and Law team to help me with several design projects for both the interior of my home and my garden over recent years. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with such a friendly, creative and professional team who commit the same level of care and attention to detail for each project, regardless of budget size. Even some of the smallest details and suggestions from W&L have transformed my home in ways I could not have imagined myself and I view the W&L team as trusted partners in making my home somewhere I truly love to live. Their help and advice has been invaluable to me and I recommend their services without hesitation.
