Ensuite versus walk in wardrobe

We are in the process of renovating an old bungalow. in our original plan we had a large walk in wardrobe and ensuite in the master bedroom, with a main bathroom and a back toilet. we are now considering making the walk in wardrobe smaller and using the space to add an ensuite to a second bedroom. do you think there's a need for a second ensuite or would you keep the space for a larger wardrobe. there will be 4 bedrooms in total. Thanks a mil for your opinions!

Walk in robe, never understand the fascination with a multitude of small bathrooms, rather fewer but larger bathrooms with some useful storage

Ensuite....definitely. Not only will it increase the value of property....you can never have too many bathrooms!

I would prefer 2 good size bathrooms for a 4 bed house than 3 smaller ones. A large walk in wardrobe for the master would be a huge plus for me too

Just typed a massive reply which seems to have been deleted.... Firstly, doesn't worry me RE natural lighting although first thoughts would be that bathroom needs ventilation? Glass ok while a single woman but don't think it's right for a couple to have that so think I need to build for long term plan (?) . Also thought could create more cupboard space if walls rather than glass as could utilise the partitions. On another note, the room the joins this is the mast bedroom- is it better to add the bathroom there & make this room purely for wardrobe/dressing?!

If there's a nice view it'd be perfect for a little sitting/lounge area. For the sloping ceiling, custom made roll-out cabinets if you have space to roll in that direction. Perfect for storing those extra bedsheets and blankets with a bookshelf on the side.

I like Jonathon’s first drawing for a couple of reasons. You can have a walk in wardrobe for all the hanging clothes, which can end up looking a bit messy, and have the more traditional type of wardrobe for items that can be boxed up, such as handbags and shoes, and folded clothes / drawer items. I think a walk in wardrobe is better without a window as natural light can fade clothes, so much better to have a bright bathroom with 2 windows. Finally, as you’re building the internal walls from scratch you could look into having a pocket door system into the en suite thereby preventing a swinging door getting in the way of either the wardrobe or the shower.

I like that idea!!! Or turn the bathroom into a walk in wardrobe, add en suite to room 3 and have the en suite as a sole en-suite. It comes down to preference of having the master dressing room to be large with the lovely views or the en-suite.

Depends on how you occupy the space. It always amazes me that people use a tiny ensuite and the only time the big family bathroom gets used is twice a year when guests stay. Of course if you have a house full of people more bathrooms might be useful but if it is just two of you I say spread out into more of your house and have smaller facilities for the occasional guest visit. Enjoy your walk in wardrobe and use the better bathroom.

I also don't understand of the mini en suites and no space for clothes. I have so many clothes I could not swap my wardrobe space for en suite . If you need help with a wardrobe or walk in please get in touch

En suite. Personally I don't need the wardrobe space. I'd much rather have the ensuite. What ordinary people need a huge amount of hanging space?
