Comments (14)I agree with the purple rug ideas, but maybe something with a pattern? I like the mirrors idea too, especially if you want to keep it modern. But if you go for art- I wouldn't bother trying to hard to match it to the room- go for something you love. If it has a bit of purple or green or grey in it fine, but don't pick something just because it matches- I think it screams inpersonal....See MoreHow to Decorate Living Room / Dining Room?
Comments (3)Hi Minnie, thanks for your reply. The paint brand is Johnstone's. My wife also thought Brilliant white might be too cold so we are now considering something with a little bit more warmth, possibly a more 'creamy' colour. The living room faces West, the dining room East - the living room gets the sun in the evening. The paneling would be going around the inside edge of the arch, basically an architrave that wraps the sides and the under edge. I have had it suggested to me that we paint the two window walls and the archway in blue as that will link the rooms together whilst ensuring that the colour is visible regardless of which room you are in or where you are sat? The boards will stay exposed though we are sanding them are treating with a light oak coloured varnish. Furniture wise, the sofa is an beige/mocha fleck colour, dining table is 'shabby chic' wooden top with white legs, Coffee table is wood topped with white legs....See MoreNo idea how to decorate this living room.. any ideas?
Comments (4)Hi, congrats on your first home together! I'm struggling to get my head round the floor plan. Is there really no access to the living room from the hall? Nor to the kitchen? I think the L lends itself well to a dining area up by the kitchen and cosier seating in the other part. You could be bold and use different colour schemes to denote the different areas (perhaps with the dining area continuing the colours/style of the kitchen so they feel connected?) or just your furniture, rugs and lighting to change the feel of the spaces. Is there a nice view out through the conservatory that you'll want to be facing? Might you like to fit a fireplace on the end (garage) wall to give a focal point to the sitting room? Are you bookcases and house plants people? Good luck!...See MoreHow to decorate living room with these sofa.
Comments (0)The 3 seater tightback couch is reddish brown while the 2 seater Chesterfield couch is coffee brown and cream polka dots. My walls are off white. Please can you suggest how i can decorate my living room with these couches? Chaircovers are extremely expensive in my country and i do not have money to change the fabrics. So how can i work around these furniture?...See MoreEllie
