Hi, I need help in choosing right colour/type rug for my living room
Comments (21)What about a bespoke rug made from a cream coloured carpet with a mink / black border? We have a great 'Make me a rug' designer on our website where you can have a play, but here are a couple of combinations that we loved! http://www.alternativeflooring.com/rugsrunners/make_me_a_rug...See MoreNeed help with my open plan kitchen living room colour scheme
Comments (6)Hello there, Thanks for your reply, and you’re very welcome. I have found you some similar colours to the list you have provided below: Farrow Ball Skimming Stone Dulux Elderflower Tea Farrow Ball Worsted 284 Dulux Dusted Moss 1 Farrow Ball Elephants Breath Dulux Knotted Twine I hope these colour suggestions are helpful. Unfortantly I wasn’t able to find the colour Wattle II or Wattle III, so I can’t match a Dulux colour from our range I’m afraid. If you would like to double check the colour names, or send me a link to the colours, I would be more than happy to find you a similar colour for you. Comments (14)Hi Emily, I teach colour theory and my best advice is to try to think of how colours interact with each other, rather than whether you like them individually. We only have names for about thirty colours, and yet we can see hundreds of different hues. There is alot of good stuff on youtube and there is the Farrow and Ball 'How to Decorate' book. The main issue is recognising tone (how dark or light something is) and undertones (the discernible hue) that is, if something has a blue tinge, red tinge etc, even if it looks grey. It's a big subject....See MoreColour scheme help needed
Comments (14)amy, I think the grey floors can work, light walls will provide the reflectivity needed as floors do provide light, but not anywhere as important as wall surfaces. you can use different shades of colournbetwen the two areas , so lighter and darker shades of a colour will work well. I personally like to have skrtings, archtraves and doors in the same colour as it gives a strong uniform theme. There are paints with a metallic finish around which can give a nice finish as well as the usual F&B paints that everyone loves. check out Eico paints for a different palette of colour including some.metallics or Mylands for some great traditional paint with good colours. good luck with your choices, we all start somewhere and I'm sure you will soon become an expert !! best Rowland...See More- 6 months ago
