Ensuite Placement In Master Bedroom

Hi,
I need some help. Anyone have ideas how to get an ensuite in our master bedroom. We have one idea but I don't feel its the best use of space and it doesn't give us a great deal of space for waldrobes. I'd appreciate any tips or advice. Have attached the orginal floor plan, and proposed idea

Thanks OnePlan. In answer to your question, this is somewhere we're planning on staying 'for life' so with a toddler and another one planned in the very near future we just thought it would be more practical to end-up with a large master with ensuite, good sized second bedroom and two smaller doubles - one each for the children and a guest room. I know it all boils down to individual circumstances, hence the above but it's otherwise a large property (nearly 2000 sq ft) in a lovely plot and area so the only real compromise seems the missing fourth bedroom.

First of all it is worth thinking about what you need to store, whether you need room for two at a time getting changed or using the sink and more lifestyle thoughts. In preparation you can take more notice of your daily routines. Then I would recommend taking note the natural light, sounds coming from outside and views as well as the other measurements. Thirdly the property may have some heritage and styles such as small details or the style of the facade which can inform the selection of inspiration. An interior designer will ask these questions for you then provide you with inspiration and more. It looks like it may be possible to utilise some of the landing and airing cupboard space to enlarge your dressing room and bathroom. Compact ensuite in master or sacrifice 4th bedroom for ensuite?

I agree with Daisy, I would be very wary of losing a 4th bedroom. The other front bedroom is very big; if the dividing wall is not load bearing, could you borrow some of that room to sink the wardrobes for your room into, to give you more space? Would probably still be possible if it is load bearing, but would require an rsj which would increase the cost. Hopefully my diagram makes sense! Otherwise, is there any possibility of extending into the roof space? Maybe in the future if finances allow?

I think this plan is as good as you are going to get for this room….. but by considering the whole of the upstairs perhaps there is a way of reconfiguring to gain an impressive master elsewhere

Here's upstairs floor plan. If our planning approved, we are going to do side extension the left for an additional bedroom.

Alternative that means not having to move the existing bathroom and not having to change the front window of the current master bedroom.

This a great idea, I would definitely be more inclined to change the windows at back of the house. I like the orginal idea I was given, but it somehow didn't feel right at the front of the room. Makes more sense to at the back. Thank you, this is really

There are a lot of options especially if doing extensive work to the house. Like I said, I offer free 30min consultations, via Zoom, as it's quicker and more effective back and forth. And most of the time there are a lot of options to consider, as layouts can affect more than one area.. but it's a knock off effect.
