What kind of flooring should I have in my kitchen?
Comments (14)That photo does look good, the two don't clash at all. I can't afford real wood flooring. I will either be having new laminate or engineered wood flooring, neither of which are something I would want in a kitchen. I also don't feel comfortable having something I feel would be more difficult to clean than tiles. It's a kitchen diner which opens onto our unusually wet and muddy garden. I have two children who create lots of mess. Just yesterday my eldest spilled some sort of hideous red goo all over the cream carpet upstairs! My other option is some sort of blue geometric patterned tiled floor. I haven't been able to find many affordable options so would probably only be able to do half of the room, depending on the way it is designed. Do any more affordable options exist? I found the optiks tiles at topps tiles which are just under £70 a square metre, so still too expensive for me. They are also quite a light blue and I'd prefer something darker. Are there any other options around?...See MoreWhat flooring should we have gone for??
Comments (28)Right. You can't change the floor so now it's all about light. If you research it properly and get some professional guidance, some lighting on top of your units would introduce the light you feel you need. I would go for a system that can produce an accurate daylight light temperature for daylight hours and a warmer temperature for evenings. But really put the effort into getting this right as will define the space. It wants to feel like you have a window up there. It's a great space and very similar to a design we've been playing with. Good luck!...See Morewhat colours to have in kitchen which gets lots of light?
Comments (6)If you think it will get lots of light - it might be worth considering honed granite tops rather than the traditional glossy ones. Will cut down on the glare ! Tester pots are your next step - try colours you like - but maybe a couple of shades darker than you like in the shop - as if light drenched - can strip some of the colour - ie if you like Manor House grey - try Moles breath instead . Also those colour a photo paint company apps are fun to try too !...See MoreWhat colour to have the pocket doors?
Comments (24)I think we actually have a larger gap than you do! Definitely get sound leakage, however tbh we don't shut them that often. We have a brush edging between the frame and the doors on both sides, but not between the doors themselves. I think the issue would be attaching it now that the doors are in (unless you can take the doors off easily still. as it'd either need to be at the front edge of the door that stays nearest the walls, or the back of the one that meet in the middle. Definitely worth trying to add if you're able to. other thing to consider if sound insulation is very important, we had the handles.. we had the finger pulls that sit on the ends of the doors? but i'm not entirely sure if it's just how they were inserted, but they dont sit 100% flush, meaning when shut there's a slight gap in the middle as well. We said about trying to change it, to get them more flush, but they'd have essentially damaged the doors trying to pry them out by that point! 🤦🏻♀️...See MoreHU-699138290
