Do you sleep with blackout curtains?
Comments (77)Huh? Looks like I'm the first here to post that I can sleep on a clothes line!! As long as I am horizontal- I can sleep if I'm tired. I have worked night-duty for over 25yrs + sleep half my week during the daytime. I can sleep by day or night. Light or dark doesn't bother me. I can sleep with curtains open or closed, bedroom door open or closed ( I always leave lamp on in hallway at night), sleep with TV on. A reasonable level of noise doesn't wake me, radio doesn't wake me, music doesn't disturb me, regular conversation doesn't wake me, regular traffic noise doesn't wake me. Crying babies, whining children + loud squabbles will wake me. I don't like being woken ...!!! My biggest sleep problem is getting off to sleep, always was a night-owl. It is usually after 2am before I'd consider going to bed. Once I do go to sleep, I stay asleep. Strangely it takes me longer to settle if the house is quiet!! Always sleep sitting upright in bed, with curtains open + beside light on if I need to be up early in the morning. It works for me. So I reckon I have saved a fortune on window dressings, eye-masks + ear plugs. All I need is a radio + 5ft 3inches of floor space and zzzzzzzz...See MorePoll: Where do you hide your laundry basket?
Comments (25)We have a pull-out section in a wardrobe with 3 sections (whites, brights and darks) for dirty laundry. It's in our bedroom so might be a pain if there were other people in the house. I keep meaning to put in some fabric bags (the drawer is a bit too deep) to make it easier. Clean stuff for ironing is on the shelf above. The ironing board is set up in a spare bedroom but I like to iron in our bedroom so that I can watch TV at the same time. Plus the clothes can be put back easily into the wardrobes without carting them around the house....See MoreDo you let your pets sleep in your bed?
Comments (52)I used to allow my Burmese anywhere and the wake up 'boofs' - cat talk for running up the bed and patting me on my face to wake me to feed them - were lovely. Then I started showing and breeding & got more cats. I'd wake to find myself on the edge of the bed while they sprawled out over 7/8ths of it! Now they all sleep in the kitchen, but kittens are due next month and will be born in my bedroom. No doubt my 1st time 'mummy' will bring them onto the bed one at a time, and I just can't wait!!!!!!...See MoreWhere do you buy your duvets and bedding from?
Comments (15)Well, at last we are happy with our choice, a single duvet each, all seasons type, goose down from John Lewis. My husband feels the heat, so he uses the thin summer one all year, except when it is very hot, then he just uses a sheet, or when it is very cold then he uses the thicker one. I use the winter one all year, the two together, except when it is very cold, then I add his spare one to mine, if it ever gets too hot for me in the summer, then I occasionally use the lightweight one on it's own! To make the bed look good we have a bedspread from John Lewis over the top. Regarding bedding, the best cotton fitted sheets come from John Lewis sale, they are cleverly made to stay put and they do. I have excellent cotton pillowcases which were from the late 1950's, the quality is unbeatable, my mother had a number which she hadn't used and I just wish they were still available, from memory they were made by a firm called Finlay's and they were made in Scotland. The duvet covers I am using came from John Lewis and Debenhams, both cotton and both in the sale. On our spare bed I have White Company sheets etc. and on the twin beds in the other room I have feather and down duvets from Argos and the covers were from the Sheridan seconds shop, very good quality and great value. I prefer to have reasonable quality, if I was very rich I would have freshly laundered linen bedding ironed correctly and an army of helpers to do the donkey work each day, never mind saving the planet, nor the crumpled look!...See Morecinderellaslipper
