We're all for a bit of hard work, and would definitely paint the cupboards. You are right not to use F&B, it's an inferior paint compared to dulux, and not correct for your purposes, being Eggshell finish. Dulux Trade Satinwood is far better, gives a better finish and is hardwearing. ( It's also more expensive than F&B i'm afraid, but you get what you pay for ). I'd paint the cupboards in a pale grey and replace the knobs. Give the area behind the bed a good dark grey finish, to help with making your choice of headboard really stand out. Thank you all for your suggestions. It's great to have some replies and I appreciate your time. I know it would make sense to have the shower with the toilet but my other half is a landscape garden and comes in from work covered in cement etc. The idea is that he has a seat by the door to put his dirty boots under, throw his clothes in a laundry basket and step into the shower. That way all mess is contained so when visitors come they don't have to see it but can use the WC. Two washing machines- one for filthy work clothes and one for my nice work clothes. We both work late hours and leave a lot of washing to be weekend. Also if one breaks down due to dirt, cement, occasional nails, we have a spare. I thought about stacking them but thought it might look imposing in such a small space and singly would give me more worktop space. Can I squeeze it all in?

For me, it was a hard pick between the open plan kitchen and the staircase but if I had to go with one, I'd side with the kitchen. The deep teal and pale blue units pair beautifully and tie with the splashback, and vases. The added gold accents in handles, vase and tap adds some lovely metallic colour to the scheme which looks oh, so good with the teal. And finally, I love how the door frame co-ordinates with the light fitting and the socket on the island with the ovens. Superb, daring yet effective combinations!!!
