Kitchen dilemma!! Help please xx

Hi there, here is our existing kitchen. Decorated when I was going through a 'red' phase (I did several rooms red lol). We are updating it and are keeping the layout, as in the bases and putting on white gloss doors. So the worktop, fridge, cooker and layout will be the same. So we will have white cupboards and black worktops. The splash backs are no problem as we have a metal fabrication business so I can replace them with stainless or powder coated stainless in any colour. My question is what colour floor, walls and accessories would you recommend?? I love the floor in the Disney store, black glitter but am open to ideas. Please excuse the mess as its Christmas there is stuff EVERYWHERE and I need to de clutter and tidy. Pics were taken mid tidy lol xx

Maybe you could have the island in a warmer colour - as going from warm wood and red to black and white is going to be a bit of a change !!!! What is your favourite colour ?!?!

I would paint all the walls a soft buttery yellow - Restoration Hardware's Butter would be perfect. New window covering in the alcove could be a roman-style roll-up blind (you can find good inexpensive ones at K-Mart) that would pick up the tones from the wood floors and shutters. Art with red, gray and yellow matting hung in a grouping over the fireplace would add a classy touch. Your current furniture needs to be re-arranged in an attractive, more intimate way. Turn red rug the long way in front of fireplace and place couches across from each other on either side of the rug. Store some of the red striped cushions. Attractive but too many. Hi Peter, The blue is pretty much navy blue so is quite neutral, it should work with your cabinets and worktops. However I think the cranberry would work best (see pics to give an idea). But if you can use samples against ovens in a showroom it will confirm things one way or another for you. I notice they do a gorgeous olive colour in the deluxe version which would be lovely with your scheme!

If you take the 290 unit off the back run and island, I think that would be sufficient? As you've got kids I think a banquette seat would be ideal for family games, homework, crafts etc. Banquettes are around 60cm, table 90cm so that leaves 113cm which I think is more than sufficient both visually and practically as it's the same gap I have behind my kitchen table. Choose chairs that push under and consider the table legs carefully depending on the number of chairs wanted, pedestal tables often work. I would however take the sink off the island and maybe install a prep sink instead so the back run would be DW, sink, bin, induction hob (I'd integrate the oven personally). Is the shower room a must? It seems quite a trek to reach there with the number of doors unless there was a way to extend the 2nd front door forward and create access from the hall there. Also wondering if you'd considered removing the wall between snug and the old kitchen? It may make the area more useable rather than trying to fill the old kitchen

Well, if I had a metal fabrication business, I'd do stainless steel countertops. They are hygienic, practical, look great, and bounce the light around. Or, as OnePlan suggested, you could do something different with the island - stainless steel and different colour units?

As someone who used to have a really dark kitchen and hated it, I wouldn't put in dark floors if you are keeping the dark countertops as it'll suck all the light out of the room. Wood floors or a tile with a bit of warm colour in it would be great. And as for the wall colour, there are a couple of bold greens in the pictures below that would be fab or you could go for something more neutral, like an off white or grey, that'll help with the light in there.
