My drab dining area needs so much help
Comments (8)Hello Linda, Yes I like both ideas- shopping and cladding from Jonathan and Reclaimed Flooring.. Certainly a way to introduce a warmer element to go with the dining table.. You could have cladding up to dado height and introduce a grey wood if you prefer the grey colour scheme.. A Cour or Jute rug could be nice underfoot too as this is a further texture.. Then on the wall perhaps a large mirror.. It's fantastic when dining and gives a lovely ambience to the room and interesting focus.. Another thing you could do is add something to the rear wall that functions as display.. Even empty as the one below is can look fantastic! This idea can also lend itself beautifully to the idea of a room divider.. Have a think about moving the table slightly under the light fitting and then you could perhaps have a lower pendant.. If you mix textures this will give a lovely cosy feel... The blinds are interesting too and so all these elements could tie in rather nicely.. Add a nice bowl or something to the table perhaps.. It doesn't always have to be a lot to have a big impact! : ))...See MoreHelp, need help updating my rented living room!
Comments (4)Hi Claire, You have a lovely space to work with and it’s great to hear that you’re up for doing a bit of DIY! In regards to the coffee table, go for it! It’s a lovely design and will complement the characteristics of the room perfectly. I’d dress the table with a gorgeous green plant - not only will this add vibrant colour, but also adds life to your space and is guaranteed to make you smile. As suggested by Minnie, a floor standing plant situated underneath your fitted wall shelves will add a feature to this corner of your room. If you fancy doing a little bit of painting, why not head to your nearest charity shop and find a sweet side table to place to the left of your sofa or either side of your armchair? Choose your favourite Dulux paint colour (in a Satinwood finish) and paint your table to add a personalised touch to your space! This will create such a lovely statement as you enter the room, especially if you choose a beautiful blue to create that coastal look. Adding a side lamp to the side table will add height and a lovely ambiance to your room, especially in the evenings when you’re snuggled up watching TV. To give your IKEA unit a fresh look, dress it with these lovely storage boxes which will work so perfectly with the scheme you want to achieve: http://goo.gl/zrKf2u Finally, if your budget stretches, take a look at these lovely cushions from Dunelm. The prices are amazing and I think they will finish the look so well. Comments (9)The Pooky website had loads of lovely lights. Wow! I also received some suggestions on another thread. I trawled through lots of websites today! I combined some ideas into a collage. Any thoughts? The dark pewter pendant is what I'm trying to co-ordinate with (I love the matt grey finish and its shape), whilst not losing the light airy feeling of the new living area with it's pitched roof, and large windows/doors. Hence why I thought about a glass pendant. But using glass pendants was just an idea. I'm open to other ideas. I also wondered if I should look at some "Hamptons style lights"? I like a timeless, calm, look....See MoreHelp with light fixtures
Comments (5)Hi Tino, I really likes these, although haven't bought one myself. They're quite expensive at around £150 but I think they are a really neat solution. https://minimalamp.com/ Hope this helps, H...See Moreshawndestasio
