Comments (3)Hello gryer84, Have you considered curtains that blend with the wall colours.. That way they are not so prominent. Why not bring the sofas further into the room and have then facing each other either side of the fireplace.. Not too close so the room is equally filled, then the room is more proportionally arranged., Coffee table in between and then you could have a console table if you have one behind the sofa facing the kitchen with a lovely vase of decorative piece.. this offers a nice visual feature that splits up the dining and living areas in a nicer way that just a rear view of the sofa.. Perhaps you have another mirror or something to sit with the round mirror on the wall.. It looks a bit lost by itself.. Maybe another smaller setting would be ideal for it and something larger, picture, canvas or something.. For the rear wall, you may possibly have a larger piece to offer some height and an armchair to compliment the sofas... Bring the side table forward and have that with the sofa furthest away from the kitchen.. possibly in the window corner side. This could go with a floor lamp for the opposite back wall corner to give warmth and extra accent lighting.. So a few ideas that you might want to try out.. : ))...See MorePlease help me ,i am lost,Need help with my living room
Comments (9)I agree with Red80 re furniture layout. There are lots of good things in this room, I just personally find the cushions and blinds clash with the chandelier and wallpaper. I would swap the 2 geometric cushions for softer patterns in lighter grey/white/duck egg. I'd get something with different textures as the cushions fabrics look the same atm? Add accessories to your coffee table, maybe just a pile of books, a vase of flowers, and an "ornament" in wood/ceramic/pewter etc again for texture. When budget allows swap the blinds for Roman blinds. Try blinds 2 go or Tuiss which is their sister company if you're in the UK. I can't remember the exact price but I got pure silk Roman blinds for 2 really large windows for c£450 which sounds a bargain to me although not yet up:) I agree the mirror is a little high. If you can, without leaving a hole on show in the wallpaper, I'd lower it as long as it doesn't reflect the tv! I'm not sure the pics to the left of the window work as they're obscured by the curtains. Perhaps also a taller vase/pot in the blue for the tv cabinet to detract from the tv a little more? Alternatively you could change the wallpaper and the mirror to give the room a contemporary rather than classical feel...See MoreHelp Creating Work Living Room Space
Comments (19)The fireplace is looking great. It looks like a fun project. I work from home too and it can be sometimes a bit much, not being able to break away from the work. I like surrounding myself with things that inspire my work rather than the work itself. Although, that niche you've got is screaming for a built-in bookshelf. But instead of using it as storage for workstuff, you could fill it with things you love instead. It would add texture and colour to the space. You could also consider having it in wood, to bring in the wood texture your wanted on the floor. I really like the colour palette you've chosen. I have a grey carpet myself. It would be easy to add a pop of blue on your chairs. If you are worried about the desk chair, there are products with castors for carpets. Another thought, is perhaps the desk can be pulled away from the wall, so it fills the room. It can act as your desk, as well as a meeting space or a family space in the evening. It also won't feel like you are facing a wall all day long....See MoreNew build living/dining interior ideas to add character!
Comments (18)Hi Amy, I agree with many of the points above, I can see the wall behind the sofa in a dark colour to zone the seating area. I would suggest maybe a funky roman blind at the kitchen window with matching cushions on the sofa. The unit next to the table looks a bit low for the room, could you go for something higher, maybe another sideboard to match the one under the tv unit this will also create more storage and create more balance in the room. I would go for a simple rustic wooden table with a mix of modern chairs to bring some more natural finishes into the room. As above a large rug which goes under the front legs of the sofa and up to the tv unit would help cosy up the seating area and zone the space. As for bifold window finishings, you do not really have room to have pull back curtains at the sides so I think it has to be simple roller blinds, you can get sheer ones that will prevent the daytime glare, are you actually overlooked or would they be adequate at night?...See More- 11 years ago
