My newly painted kitchen is disappointing
Comments (15)Yes but don't go made on your blind. If having wood keep it simple . Maybe a soft green bind or what about a small pelmet.? Don't block out any natural light.. It makes it feel light airy and spacious... Really you have it all. It's just basically bringing it all together... Little touches of your green maybe a few candle glasses on your window cil, which will catch the light. Small plants.. So times a kitchen can look different on the work tops if you move appliances around.. But only do that if it works for you..!! The wall that I suggested to lighten up.. Maybe the mirror in the middle or maybe a couple of prints with the greens, ( these don't need to be expensive) etc colour blended in ... With a light background... Check out Pintrest.. They have ideas that just might help you to tie it in together.. Good luck and some more photos when done please... My kitchen has green.. It's lovely and bright in the morning..,feels refreshing... Plus with my cabinets being white, I can change my colours in between... When I need the change.. Good luck...See MoreRedecorated kitchen
Comments (11)Hi there, Wow, your Luscious Lime wall looks fantastic - it makes your kitchen look really fun and cheerful. For that much of a vibrant wall, you definitely need a really quirky display. The image below shows a good example of a gallery wall, with a nice collection of items that all work together really well. You could use your clock, and mix in some artwork along with any other little knick knacks you think would look good to achieve the look. I think you are right about the white - you don’t want to overpower the wall with too much colour. Some simple monochrome prints, like this love heart from Habitat, could work quite nicely to create a break in the colour. The stags head from Argos, in a stark white, would stand out so well against the lime and add to your gallery wall. Habitat £35 http://bit.ly/2crdzWy Argos £47.99 http://bit.ly/2dghgA0 I hope this helps and I’d love to see some pictures of what you decide to do. Best of luck with your decorating. Comments (17)Wow, thanks so much for all of the amazing tips. They have really helped us out with what might work best in the house. @ Isidora Markovic We are going to treat the wooden floors and keep them dark in Colour. I thought in the kitchen, we might add some spotlights on the ceiling to brighten up the area as a short term solution. @minnie101 Thanks so much, I agree to paint the beam white to blend it into the ceiling. The grasscloth paper will definitely be going. I like the brick as a feature wall and feel the grass cloth is a bit cheap looking. I like the idea of a warm neutral colour. The previous owners shared a picture with white walls and the whole room looked rather cold. As above, I agree that spotlights and lamps will warm the room up a lot. We are based in South Africa, so have many nice paints to choose from. Delux seems to be big here. @Lyn Hickson Thanks so much, Lyn. The precious owner actually owns all of the furniture and the art work. We have travelled quite a bit and thought it might be nice to print some of our images on canvas and hag them instead of art work, so hopefully it will work well in the room. Thanks @ Man About The House - The DIY & Odd Job Handyman - The wooden panel above the arch is actually a bamboo wallpaper which we will be removing - I agree to paint it a neutral/light colour. I'm also quite drawn to a grey colour palette perhaps with some navy/neutral furniture and accessorise with yellow and wood. (not sure if this will work but just a thought). Really appreciate the feedback so far. As much as I would love to live in it first, Im too much of a keen bean and definitely want to give it a lick of paint and get the dirty work done while we have time and before the furniture gets in. Thanks for all the advice - will post some after pictures one it comes together. :)...See MoreBlank Canvas and need ideas for Kitchen/Living/Dining
