Hi Jen, I really like the contrast of the white with the darker colour (it’s actually Hague Blue that we went for in the end.) When my budget allows the intention in this room is to replace the curtains with traditional solid shutters. These will be white to match the windows.

Hi, Using colour: I would stay neutral for the walls above the units; a great colour example of this is 'Strong White' by Farrow and Ball and then for the wall on the left of the photo I would have this as a feature all and go for a darker tone such as 'Green Blue' by Farrow and Ball. Using lighting: spotlights are great as they can provide an even spread of light in your kitchen, especially if you are limited in natural light. Due to having a dark coloured back splash, having under cabinet spotlights on a separate electrical circuit would provide additional lighting on the worktop area in the evening and night hours. There are lots of greys that are available, it’s just a neutral . I think your current green has been successful with the floor and you might choose a grey with a green quality for the same reason. If you try a tester of a grey with a blue quality you might find it makes the floor appear orange. Choosing grey for the wall suggests you are considering a more contemporary look. The white used elsewhere will contribute to that look. On my screen the white areas look a little cream, a cooler white would be a more contemporary cleaner choice.

I'd suggest keeping it cottage-y. Pale greige or white, but with darker window frames? Or just pale earthy colors (and sage or pale blue-grey)? And add more texture to the garden. Hedges, fruit trees, shrubs, veg/herb plot, strip of wildflowers meandering through the grass.
