Long narrow window...?

I am about to completely re- do my living room and change it to black and grey. I am thinking of having a pale corner sofa with black coffee table and side tables, pale grey rug and possibly dark grey curtains...but unsure of what to do with this window...?

I don't really want to make it a focus point and wouldn't really mind leaving the blinds as they are but I think they look a little cheap, and probably won't go with the grey colour palette. Any advice/ suggestions would be appreciated...and also any ideas of colours, ie dark/ light curtains etc....? Help!!

What about a film that can be applied to the glass? If you choose a film that is opaque it will let in light but won't allow people to view through? That way you don't have to think of any colours at present and could perhaps use it as a display shelf to display artwork, photos or glasswork that would be complementary to your colour scheme!

Love the idea of opaque film. Another option is roller blind the same colour as the new wall colour so it blends in. But I love crisp white with grey and charcoal so I would put white timber venetians.

It might be worth looking into a stove with a faux chimney breast. Just looking at your sofa, lamps etc it looks as if you like a classical/transitional style? If you did opt for that and it's feasible to install again I might position it off centre. http://www.woodburners.com/installations/no-chimney,-no-problem.html you may hate this idea but I have a large oriental wardrobe next to my fire which houses the tv. Your tv doesn't look huge so it may be an option if of course you like it. I only know of this one which is an actual tv cabinet or you could do as we did and drill holes in the back of the wardrobe (it obviously needn't be an oriental one but one that doesn't scream wardrobe!) https://www.oka.com/peking-handpainted-chinoiserie-tv-cabinet.aspx Although if you had a fire as the focal point you may find the tv fades into the background or paint the alcoves a darker shade etc. Re rug I suppose it depends if you move the leather seats into the play room but something with a subtle pattern might look nice? Have you looked for anything else to replace the leather? I like the storage unit you've found. It looks as if your side tables would work the other way round so you could have a media cabinet for cd's and dvds where the toys are currently stored or an apothecary cabinet may work well.

Yes, pictures are helpful to draw people in. Dark would be fine - if on a darker wall. How about sticking with the grey of sofa, dark grey theme and then have the two longer walls to work the proportions and add some light. Pic attached. Alternatively, pic attached, you could do all light neutral walls but then crate a different effect with ceiling to floor dark panel curtains to add luxury and add the darker end wall effect! I agree with Alix ie I would use the one end for something else so it seems like two rooms just opened up into each other rather than one long room Perhaps a reading book by the south window? Ie day bed/lounge to chill out on with a rug under it to define that area. Then have your L shaped sofa facing towards the tv/fire in the North side. Shame you have the door right in the middle but it can still work as long as you don’t block it up too much. What other rooms are around it? Whole plan would help

Thank you, I've never heard of the opaque film so will definitely look into that, also like the sound of crisp white against the grey. Thanks again!
