Decorating a long narrow living dining room
Comments (6)Yes, pictures are helpful to draw people in. Dark would be fine - if on a darker wall. How about sticking with the grey of sofa, dark grey theme and then have the two longer walls to work the proportions and add some light. Pic attached. Alternatively, pic attached, you could do all light neutral walls but then crate a different effect with ceiling to floor dark panel curtains to add luxury and add the darker end wall effect! Just ideas. All the best and I hope the advice keeps coming! :)...See MoreLong living room - layout help
Comments (9)Due to the length you can't really create one large seating area that feels joined correctly as the space between people would feel incorrect (uncomfortable). I would either create a seating area at one end centred around the TV area and one the other say more centred on a cosy fire place and maybe games. Or create one fairly large area for seating - that uses the 'square' area of space - and then at one end behind this area create a study area and bookcase. This will create your square area and feel comfortable. If you have difficulties with this and would like help we would do this as part of a single room redesign for the space where lighting, layout, styling and flooring are all thought about together to create a unified and beautiful space that suits your needs. I hope it helps and look forward to an update. All the best, Gina...See MoreNew house has long living room, need help with layout and design.
Comments (10)Hello! Wow! Thank you very much for your advice. So, there is a radiator on the right hand wall. That is where current owners put their tv. Not sure it will fit, will measure up soon hopefully. The TV could go on a smaller unit to be honest, and will make sure radiator is turned down! Just worried that there isn't enough room for a corner sofa there with the door to the hallway..(see photos on rightmove) I LOVE the idea of large mirrors either side of fireplace. Pinching that! ;) My current living room is decorated in shades of greys and lots of gold. Thinking of going navy and gold but not too sure. Sofa colours argh! Huge thanks I'm very grateful. Comments (4)We currently have an L shaped sofa, 3 armchairs, a sideboard, a chest and a little side unit, but are open to replacing some/all of the items if it will make the room work better. Dining area is in the kitchen. We had considered adding a small desk for working from home, but can cope without. The French doors lead into a conservatory which goes into the back garden. The window looks out into the front garden/drive....See MoreE D
