Advice on design for my new bedroom please!
Comments (8)Have a look at Cromarty. It’s a Farrow & Ball colour but others will colour match. I colour matched with Johnstones as I prefer their paint. Cromarty is a very pale grey/silver green. I’ve just done one bedroom in it and I’m really pleased with the colour. Clean, fresh, bright and modern....See MoreAdvice on upcycling my pine bedroom furniture this weekend ;-).
Comments (18)Agree with advice above. I’ve done quite a few pieces -would not use chalk paint. I use a small black and decker detail sander (they don’t seem to last too long but are usually not expensive), then a good quality undercoat is vital (I use one made by Mythic which was recommended to me when I had a disaster with some Farrow and Ball paint which refused to dry, but am struggling to find a supplier now, so Zinnser is probably the answer)Then a satinwood - agreed it can get knocked but is a really nice finish and easily touched up. I use a brush but just because I like the finish. I used to use Graham & Green knobs (especially the crystal ones) but recently just purchased some from eBay and they looked great....See MoreMore smaller bedroom or less bigger bedrooms
Comments (11)So a dormer loft conversion costs the same as a side extension? It sounds like you'll be getting more space for the side extension for the same amount of money then. Have you had a look at other bungalows down your road or area that have had extensions vs no extensions and see what they have sold for, then you can see if it's worth it but who knows what the market will be like in a couple of years time. In terms of appealing to more when selling, people probably would prefer bedrooms upstairs but if bedrooms are larger and downstairs is huge it will be more attractive to buyers ( I think ) especially if there is a large family. Lots of new builds have a bedroom downstairs so it's not unusual plus families considering a bungalow won't be looking for the norm in terms of layout so 2 bedrooms downstairs is fine. You can also ask your estate agent that sold you the bungalow, get their thoughts on what is attractive to buyers, I'm sure they'll be helpful in case you'll use them in the future :-)....See MoreSmall Dormer Bedroom Makeover
Comments (12)I wonder if it is worth having the chimney breast removed if possible? Obviously you will need that checked out by a builder. Also I wonder if there’s room to place the bed against the middle of the left hand wall so the feet are facing the window? Good storage is key to a tidy room, so fitted wardrobes would be a great idea. You could get a carpenter to fit them and then paint them yourself to save money. White walls will certainly refresh the room but I think change the bedding to white as well, and then get a throw and cushions to add a bit of gentle colour. Yes the blind will certainly save space, either a simple blackout roller blind or a white wooden slatted blind would look smart. Online company Blinds2Go are very reasonable made to measure. Here’s a few pics to inspire you, one is grey but I thought it was nice. Could be livened up with mustard or burnt orange cushions and throw....See MoreCeliaM Interior Stylist
