Help with living room furniture layout please

Blank canvas. My living room is 20.4ft(6.2 m) x 12.2ft (3.7m) but has 3 entrances. The first is the entrance from the hall, then there is a large archway connecting the living room to the dining room. The third is the French door to the patio/back garden. Im buying furniture and would like seating for 6 min, I would appreciate advice on the following:
1. Plan A: buy 3 seater + 2 seater sofa + 2 armchairs. If I place the 3 seater before the French door and put the 2 seater at the opposite. Then put 2 arm chairs before the arch. This means the 3 sweaters would block the garden view.
2. Plan B: buy 2 x 2 seater sofa and place them opposite each other in front of the fire place. Put the 2 arm chairs before the arch.
Any other advice are very welcome. Thank you.

Comments (14)Ok it seems I got cut off due to the smiley face I put! Grr.. Basically what I was saying is that we were thinking about farmhouse/cottage style table (small but extending), but I'm worried that it may be too much.. Also we rushed and bought retro industrial type of lampshades (same for both areas), and also our floor isn't wood colour, but it's white/grey kind of washed wood, so I'm afraid the whole look wouldn't look so good with the white floor! What do I do?? Also my hubby didn't like it as much as I did...and I was so hopeful that we finally got a perfect middle.. Anyway, if I swap something for something maybe that would help..? All I want is a nice and cosy, elegant and sophisticated but also comfy and relaxing home..what a headache :) But thank you so so much for every single idea, this really helps to think!!! Comments (8)How wide is the bay? (Not convinced the plan is entirely accurate if the previous people had a sofa on the left wall?). Ignore the furniture choice, was trying to find photos at the right angle! I might do something like this. You may also be able to have another chair on the left wall. If you go for an upholstered footstool you have more seating when needed and I’d choose a low back sofa so it’s not poking over the top of the window sill. If you don’t want the sofa to impose on the room too much, choose a colour that doesn’t contrast with the walls too much. Perhaps choose a rug that is large enough for all of the front feet of the furniture to sit on. Comments (5)Heres where the TV is Minnie, i think it probably is a bit of an awkward location for it but the room layout with two doors and an archway make it difficult to place. i really appreciate both of your suggestions, definitely want to get a bigger rug at some point, we only got the one we have from ikea (it was fairly cheap) just to see how a rug worked and we both love how it breaks the wooden floor up as it can feel a bit cold. Minnie, I did orginally have the larger sofa under the lights but then the smaller sofa looked lost against the other wall but I think you might be right and for symmetry it would be better swapped over. ive never thought about a lamp! thats a good idea actually! yes Minnie the country/rustic style is very much my look. the kitchen is a similar style too. 6 years agoI would say including my willow pod chair could transform the space. It adds an element of play yet at the same time a place within which to relax. It can be nestled in anywhere, built to the shape and size you desire, and can be hung or free standing. :)
