Comments (143)Hello donned2004, Well you could remove all the things from the hearth.. So it has more space.. Hang the mirror and paint the chimney breast a nice colour to bring the fireplace into full focus.. If you wanted to have an even bigger recess.. you could open the fire out up to the sides of the wooden surround.. So taking out the 30's tiles.. Make sure the lintel is in place or doesn't need replacing and keep the surround it's rather nice.. Remove the current tiled hearth if you chose to open it out more.. and install a flat piece of slate.. So then you would have an open brick recess and a lovely iron basket could sit nicely inside for logs! Another idea to continue into the room.. might be to look at painting the woodwork a colour to compliment any wall colours you have.... Some lovely painted floorboards, or parquet or a natural Jute or Coir flooring if you have not already decided upon something.. : ))...See MoreSomething's not right, but what?
Comments (35)Hello Aliko M, Just wading into the conversation feed. From having a quick read over everything that has been said, it's a lot to filter through and digest the suggestions that are of interest to you. I can only make a suggestion from an art on wall point of view. Bespoke artwork to compliment your rooms decor is our speciality, and so I would have to agree with the suggestions that what you currently show in your photo are too small and, in my humble opinion, don't bring energy and interest to the room. If you're still wondering what to put on your wall art wise, please have a look at my BESPOKE DESIGNS projects to see what can be done with any room. http://www.houzz.co.uk/projects/1720017/bespoke-designs If you would like to go down the route of bespoke artwork, please feel free to contact me and we can address this further. All the best with whatever you decide to do....See MoreHouzz challenge: What's your decluttering nemesis?
Comments (61)Hi Jen, I would leave headboard as it is without painting, I'm not sure about the round thing in the middle...the best would be a simple natural wood one with plain surface... Anyway if you decide to paint it sand it first with sandpaper and make all corners round, it will give a special personal touch. :) Make sure that it is well fixed to the bed....See MoreBathroom Design Inspiration
Comments (32)You are right. i went into BQ yesterday to see what an 800 x 800 shower was like - IT WAS TINY. I think I need a 1000 x 800 minimum and as such whipped up two layouts where one requires the toilet to move to a new party wall whereas the other keeps the toilet on the exterior wall but moved closer to the window. The second layout proposal results in a small gap between toilet and shower enclosure. Im concerned that gap might be too tiny to walk through? FYI Wall with the window is exterior Wall to the left separates bedroom Wall with the door is internal Wall with the proposed toilet is the party wall with neighbour. i have also posted a vanilla layout of the room size including window and just the door. Is one of the proposed layouts better than the other? Are there any other layouts I could consider? Layout 2 - is the gap between the shower enclosure and toilet be ok? Vanilla Layout Layout 1 - requires toilet to move to party wall....See Morejstluise
