Now that it's warming up, it's important to get your home prepared for these temperatures - bedding is always a good place to start! When spring and summer arrives, do you change your duvet? If so, what material and tog do you change to?

I confess to one of those clip-together numbers that effectively gives you three tog options. It has to be a heatwave for me to consider the thin one, though!

I have a 10.5 tog for summer and 13.5 tog for winter

I helped my Dad build a fire pit in his garden, he made wooden seats to sit around the metal fire pit with old stone columns for extra seating (unfortunately you can't see the actual fire-pit as behind the stone bench). Lots of stories and fun are had around it until deep into the night. If you have the space it is a great addition to put in! Shannon

Yes. We recently bought a super king sized bed so needed a new duvet. I bought one that is supposed to adjust to your body temp. Yeah, right!! After a week we could stand it no more and went and bought a twenty quid 4.5 tog. It was far too warm and this was still only March. Maybe I'll dust it off and try again in the middle of winter!

My new project for this year is growing strawberries in hanging baskets. I grew 30 runners into plants for this year and am experimenting with how many I can successfully grow in each 34 cm basket. I'm trying between 4 and 8 using slow release feed and water retaining gel.

Speaking from London I copy the habits of hot countries. Blinds have to be down before the sun hits the windows, then open the windows through the flat, not necessarily so much on the side being hit on the sun. Create a through draft from front to back, obviously windows have to be shut when you are out but leave blinds down or curtains closed then too. I have an old mansion flat and live on the ground floor so there are some inbuilt advantages from the solid walls and position. Energy required, me walking backwards and forwards closing blinds and opening and shutting windows. With the forecasts of ever increasing energy prices and warmer climate we need to design in low energy cooling methods as well as heating. In the future we may need to use our chimneys to bring in cold air at night to cool buildings as is done traditionally in the middle east.

Nope although I probably should! I'm a sleep-on-top-of-the-duvet kind of person when it gets too warm! :)

Yes, we have a 4 tog for most of the year and switch to a 12 tog November - April.
