Need help for my new kitchen

Hi, I am buying a place that has a very tiny and outdated kitchen. I would like to renovate it to make it contemporary and fit a dishwasher as well...any idea? thanks!

Hi Fabrizia,

Congratulations on your new purchase! I hope completion goes well.

We have designed quite a few compact size kitchens, please see some examples on our website under resent installations.

If starting from left to right, I would suggest to start with integrated Fridge Freezer, after that 450mm wide pan drawers with internal cutlery drawer, next would be Hob and Oven, Integrated Dishwasher 450mm wide, slim line one.
Then continue with Corner unit for sink and integrated Washer Dryer. This way all your plumbing could stay on the same run.
Also, the Microwave could be integrated in the wall unit. This would give you more worktop space.

As the space is a little dark, make sure that you have LED Spot lights recessed under wall units. In order to gain some additional storage you could have double height wall units going all the way up to the ceiling.

As an owner of a large glass kitchen table (octagonal btw) I would not recommend getting one! Especially if you have children. Octagonal shape is great as every guest gets a side, but glass shows fingerprints, even little dust etc. and underneath the table top as well! Harder to clean too. Then you would probably want to get placemats as it's not a nice feeling/sound when you put plates and cutlery on the glass.

Can't you just board over them? NZ & French houses don't have exposed pipework, it's all in the walls as they have timber frame houses. I'd get a builder to build a timber framework and board over the top also boxing in the waste disposal. If you want acess to the waste disposal, you could make it look like a cupboard. Get a few quotes and see what the cost would be, it's probably less than you think.

Hi Louise. Re colour it really depends on the light in each room and the size and height of the room if you want the colour to work with the room and increase light and feeling of space etc. what flooring do you have? For the boys, I would get furniture that sees them through to teenage years. Paint, paper and accessorise in bits that can be changed relatively cheaply. Which elements of geography does your son like ie travel or mountains, oceans etc? If he likes travel look at home designing.com at their travel themed kids room for inspiration. For the 6 year old, maybe just get him some bedding and a matching light in something he likes and paint around that ie nautical theme, dinosaurs etc. people do say not to paint kids rooms in bright colours as it doesn't help induce sleep but I haven't found it makes any difference! For the sofa, any shade from cream through to taupe or chocolate could work and accent with a mid blue like a wedgwood colour. A sage green would look nice with the mahogany.

Hi all, Thank you very much for being honest and so helpful. I have quotes from a professional kitchen painter who has requested for the cabinets to first be primed off site, so I contacted someone in a business park, who do all sorts of things on wood, asking them if they would spray prime it. Now I have also got a quote for 'only spray priming' and also 'spray paint to finish'. the spray painting by this business park type of place is nearly half the price of the hand painter, not to forget for him I also need to add cost of spray priming. So it boils down to this: spray paint or hand paint? can someone show me pictures or a link to a spray painted and a hand painted kitchen? Man about the house, I like your spray painted look, is that the finish I can expect from the spray painters? Thanks!
