Midi Cabinets and TV

I recently had a plan drawn up for a new kitchen basically down one side was a run of 5 units: 2 full size units to house Fridge/Freezer and Pantry and three midi units: one housing a double oven the other a intgrated microwave and the other one for various bits and pieces. The top of the midi units were to be used for a TV and storing books.

Standing back and looking at it I'm concerned that the TV might actually be to high up for comfortable viewing from the main seating area and the island

I'd appreciate an opinion as to whether this would work.

My other option would be to have three full size units and put the TV on the top of 2 standard size worktops.

I'd appreciate your views

Just a thought. A midi unit is 1250 high, is there any such thing as a 'small' midi unit and can you build them as standard or do they have to be custom made?

If you home in on the pictures you'll see that the fourth and fifth shelves down are less deep than the shelves above; the perspective is also slightly different. It's painted to look like shelves with books on but the books and shelves are painted on a cover which, in the left hand picture, is fully up to hide the television. In the right hand picture, the cover has been opened and hangs down - revealing the television. It looks as if the television is also on a wall mounted stand that allows it to be moved in and out so it can be brought forward for better viewing and pushed back so the cover an be lifted. I think it's great!

leave the TV wall mounted but bring it down a little and then you won't be ending up with neck ache and maybe put a shiny white cabinet to display some nice pieces. that's what I've done and it looks great.

What are the maximum dimensions of the footstool? Also what's the height of the sofa to the seat cushion? Personally I'd go for a Chesterfield on legs to keep the feeling of space in a plain fabric with a tray on top as AJ suggested

between 10 and 11 ft. but it's the height I'm worried about

My suggestion, on the other site you posted this on, was to turn the island around 180 degrees so the seating is in front of the glazed doors and mount the TV on the flat side of the island... This would give you TV viewing from a corner sofa very well - either facing the TV or the fire - but the down side is you wouldn't be able to watch TV when you are on the breakfast bar .
It would also give you a great 'shopping bag ' placement area for when you fill your fridge and larder cabinet. And fill and unload the dishwasher etc too.

Unless you mount the TV in the region where the designer drew it - ie above the fire - ( hope it won't get hot ?!) I don't think it will work flat on the wall. So even if you use tall wall units (900mm usually ) on a 150mm plinth height - either on a height reduced midi carcase or on a wall carcase - you will probably need to put the TV on an angled bracket to watch it from the sofa.

OnePlan my apologies for not replying sooner but I was waiting until some de-construction work was done so I could let you see why I had my island facing as it is

One of the photos shows what you'd see sitting on the island seat; an old Windmill and some lovely greenery (at least it will be when the tidy up is done!!!) the other photograph shows the view I'd have if I flipped the island 180 degrees. Would you agree - no contest? I appreciate, of course, that you were unaware of the view, hopefully this post will explain where I'm at.

My intention is to opt for a shaker type kitchen. I'm dealing with an independent supplier because he is more flexible.
Colour wise I'm torn between: Vert De Terre, Lichen, Blue Grey, and Parma Grey.
Floor wise I'm thinking of a light oak or Iroko engineered wood and having the same on the island table. What would you think for the floor?
I'd love granite worktop and granite island but unfortunately the cost is prohibitive
