Cocktail table dilemma,

I recently bought a sectional with a chaise lounge. As you can see from the photos the sectional creates a square space were normally a cocktail table would go. The dilemma is what shape cocktail table should I put there? Do you think an all wood table would be to heavy? Should I do glass and wood. The rug is a beige brown and cream berber rug. I also want to incorporate a rug at some point but have no ideas regarding that. Anything suggestions would be helpful.

Wood is too heavy. Small round glass top or maybe none at all.

Sukiharrison and Odd job Hadyman, Thank you very much for your comments :) We actually intended to have the sofa on the opposite wall and built in cabinets and shelves exactly like you've suggested but I absolutely loved this big L shape sofa so desided to have it as it is now. There is no problem to move one part of the sofa to the opposite wall and the other to the wall against the window, but for now this is more convenient lay out. The shelves have to wait for now but I imagine them in white. After hearing a few suggestions about the secondary light by the window I will probably listen to the pros and remove it In favour of a floor or table lamp. No curtains.. For now :) I have a big thing about dust and would like this house to be as easy to clean as possible and generally don't like curtails Over radiators. Thou I understand this will affect the appearance I'd like to keep it simple.

Hello. I've been reading about rugs and allergies and decided to have a go with either jute or polypropylene rug, which should be fine in my circumstances. It depends on the shade of turquoise but coral, terracotta and shades of orange or yellow could work. I might consider doing the cocktail chair in a patterned turquoise fabric and the wing chair in a shade of orange

Just reading the comments and suggestions on here shows the capacity for lots of variations possible for a design in this size of space. Have you considered investing some time working with one designer - who you can work with to produce a layout that ticks your boxes and then shopping around with the finished plans - (this is the kind of service we provide ) it may be a bit less confusing than several people ‘having a go ‘ - although it’s always great to get others opinions on Houzz, and of course it’s lovely that they are offering you this help at no cost. But might be worth considering, as you will be living with the results for a long time! Choose a smaller size, round or oval upholstered ottoman. It would fun to do a pop of color.

No coffee table at all. In fact, if you want to keep your end tables, they should be a bit bigger....What would it look like if you put a console table behind the part of the couch in front of the sliding doors and no table at the chaise lounge end of your couch? People could put their coffee/drink on the console table. Lamp could be on the console table also, leave your floor lamp where it is. . I would like to see a tall plant on the right side of your sliding door also.

I agree with Triad Plus; 2 small round cylinders. I would eliminate the end tables and use floor lamps.

I agree with the suggestion of ottoman or pouf. But you could always keep it light with glass, in a round or oval shape!

Cocktail or coffee tables are for putting down your cocktail or coffee cup. There are other ways to provide that convenience. Are you familiar with "C" tables? I'd replace your current tables with two or three of them.

A small square table wold fit best. I'd suggest a glass top table to to keep the visual space not looking too heavy.
