What is the back splash above stove? Tile? Slate?

Built house but want this backsplash. Just can't figure out what it is.

Personally I wouldn't go with a yellow splash back. Not because it wouldn't go but more that you already have enough of that accent colour around the room, over do it and it can look forced. There is a fine line between getting the balance right were it looks classy and going over board to the point it looks naff. Personally I would either go for a splash back that is colour matched to the walls or a smoked mirror. You are limited in some ways because it appears there wasn't any forward planning with regards to splash backs. Any splash backs would need to be confined to the width of the extractor because your curved wall units won't open otherwise. They would have to be packed off the wall if you wanted to go full width splash back. I would recommend a durable matt paint in the kitchen. Good quality ones will withstand washing without polishing up and showing tell tell marks where they've been washed. Little Greenes Intelligent Matt is perfect for this and is our choice of paint when not using any further splash backs above the granite upstands. I understand a colour matched glass splash back or smoked mirror may seem like the safe option and boring to some, but there is no point in being brave just for the sake of it. You've got plenty of other points of interest in the room with regards to colour without having to push it too far. Let the kitchen itself be a subtle canvas to show off other items rather than fight with them for attention would be my advice.

For me the most important thing was how it would "go" with the rest of the kitchen. Also, as I planned the kitchen, I needed to understand how and how well, the splash back would intersect with the extractor, the wall units and the worktop upstand. FWIW I would never have had a printed glass splash back, although we did consider a plain white one. But the style of the extractor meant the splash back needed to be shaped around the extractor unit - not so easy with pre-made glass splash back. My biggest turn off with websites is bad grammar and spelling mistakes. I feel that if a company cannot be bothered to check something as important (and often the first interaction the company has with potential customers) then I would question how careless they would be with my order. I also hate pop ups and distraction on a page. For instance - and I hope you don't mind me commenting on your website - having the phrase "package deals available!" at the top of most product pages is a distraction for someone just looking for a splash back. It looks like it's a trade only thing and it looks a bit down market and a bit Trotters Independent Traders'ish. Perhaps combo offers may be better mentioned on a separate page of "offers" or a small section in the product information that combination/bundle deals of a splash back and worktop are available.

Urgh, I had the same thing in my last house and I was forever repainting it! (And that was with a kitchen paint) What was most annoying is that I had wanted a much deeper upstand ie going up under the window cill, and the kitchen designers told me I was basically nuts and that’s not what I should get. I shouldn’t have listened to them. It’s fine elsewhere but the sink (and I didn’t have a bowl in it, ha ha) was a mare! You could get another section of the upstand cut to fit into the space. Or some heavy duty wall paint designed for wet areas. Or subtle mosaics perhaps
