Parapan kitchen door units - yes or no?

Trying to get a high end look for a good price and good quality. Like the ultragloss look, but would like a cheaper alternative to using glass itself.

Hi,

Parapan solid acrylic doors are very good, however they cost a fortune. My recommendation would be to choose either acrylic faced or gloss lacquered doors instead. Both will give you the exact look you're after for a fraction of the price of glass or Parapan (solid acrylic).

If you know the right places to visit, you should be able to get a gloss lacquered or gloss acrylic faced kitchen for similar to what you'd pay for a low quality gloss vinyl from somewhere like Wickes, Howdens, Wren etc.

Just wanted to say what a fantastic kitchen. So pleased you're keeping it! Formica would be the period correct work surface and can still be bought but may not fit with your budget? I would also look at having a carpenter produce your cabinets. They can be cheaper than off the shelf and would be better build. To save some money you could buy cheap plain carcasses and have a carpenter make doors to match the existing ones that you can then paint. That's what i'd do!

After waiting 2 weeks from January order of oak window sill, ledge shelves and flat shelves that arrived 4 months later, then another month for fitter to find half a day to fit us in... TOMORROW'S THE DAY. And we're ready. Might even get some 'after' photos on here.

Hi Wells and Hewitt Thank you I love the colour I have chosen, my pictures do not do kitchen much justice, but very pleased with the 2 shades of Farrow and ball. I am in love with F&B and can see why it is a little more pricey, but so worth it. The kitchen was a green colour before, which I didnt like, the F&B greys go with the grey in the porcelain. Obviously wish I had a bigger kitchen, I plan to extend to the side in the next couple of years, but for now just wanted to make it look as spacious as possible. The back bit of kitchen is a lot more spacious, and houses a large fridge, washing machine and storage.... It works for my lifestyle for now. Will also be changing Kitchen tap to a tall modern pull out spray one. Yes I agree loose the pelmet, it was just there to hide the lights, will have a look at your website for ideas on the lighting. I never even considered downlights, but sounds good to me. I may be in touch, you are only about an hour away :)

I don't feel this room really fits a peninsula but obviously you'd like to sit with a view so putting sitting facing the window is a perfect solution. The sink doesn't need to be in front of the window as you hardly spend any time washing up these days, especially with a dishwasher. Move this to the left and continue the top over with leg space (perhaps 300 deep units for a sneaky bit of storage). Alternatively, could you have one door to the garden and do Carolina's idea over the other door? good luck Emily
