My fire place wall in my living room
Comments (2)My first reaction is 'what odd beams'. Odd isn't always bad though and can add a lot of character, how about painting it all white including the ceiling and the shelving. It's a lot of work but it would brighten it and neutralise everything. Modern to me is all about white. I like your shelves and I think you could get some really awesome objects to display on these as features. Good luck!...See MoreLiving room revamp dilemma
Comments (4)Hello dmv34e, I think the purple is good and works with the fireplace. It actually could be rather elegant with a little re-work. What could have been nice is if this feature wall was carried through to the other end of the room where the dining table is... You can then add warm colours to compliment in lighter shades of purple or even grey purples and of course stone colours.... ... Add accent cushions etc to tie in the curtains with some lighter shades here to compliment the fire surround.. The sofa is rather dominating and if you can move part of this away... If there is a chair portion that could sit where the pouffe is facing in angled, then re situate the sofa part to face the fire on the rear wall... This opens things up and more importantly the window.. Maybe hang the tv on a moveable bracket so it can angle for viewing but perhaps placed back to the wall when not in use. Thus it doesn't fight for attention when the fireplace should be the focus. If you cannot replace the sofa.. One way of lightening the dark impact here is to layer with throws.... Over the end of one arm... Something layered over the back and of course a couple of different sized cushions on one side only... Purple and stone would be my suggestion again to compliment the theme.. Some lovely flowers white and purple could be nice here... A stand for the plant... perhaps another plant... : ))...See MoreLounge paint colour dilemma
Comments (20)I think new art is a good idea. We all like a little refresh of wall art every now and then, and I really don’t blame you. I think The Range is good for cheap and cheerful art, and surprisingly good. Wayfair are also good, and for the more special art prints I’ve found King & McGaw very stylish. Of course you could go to an art gallery and choose an original piece if budget allows. These prints are from King & McGaw:...See MoreLiving Room Furniture Dilemma & Decor
Comments (8)I think I prefer the Ikea sofa as the Next one looks a little bulky for the room, washable covers also sound good. I do prefer the Ikea sofa I added but yours should work too, they're identical except for the arms. I also think they work well with the chairs, a different style is good. Just personal opinion but again for me if you're going industrial I would go for a wood floor and it adds so much warmth to a room, LVT may be a softer option? (Last try I promise!). Not sure if you like any of this? I didn't find cushions to match just in case you hate this one and it takes a while looking! It's impossible to choose art for somebody but you may like these. Junique and desenio are also good for affordable prints. Neon signs are also a good way to personalise a room if that's your thing i would add lots of texture for accessories, I think you need to get the furniture agreed first though. I would go for a light neutral for the walls. Need to know which way the room faces and you could work with any undertone in the navy paint...See MoreJMC Decorators
