Color question

What color did you use on these stairs? Is there a certain product that you used? I love the red color, it is bright but not overwhelming.

Thank you for your question! Generally we use Behr Premium Deck Stain or Sherwin WIlliams Deck Stain. In the Behr product line this color would be Redwood or Barn Red. Sherwin Williams color would also be called Redwood. We rebuilt and stained these stairs and the deck areas last season, so the precise color is not at our fingertips :-) However you can click over to Behr and they have a wonderful color selection tool that is very easy to use, or, click over to Sherwin Williams and check out their color choices.

What do you think of these the lady is going to send me a swatch of fabric she seems to think they are a grey cream rather than yellow so could be good maybe ? My only concern is I like a medium tone wood colour but I think that would work don't like too matchy matchy .

Minipie, this is a tricky one. The greeney grey would look lovely with your yellow brick or even a more yellowed grey, there are lots of houses where I live with yellow brick and ones with warm grey pale windows look lovely. I recently replaced all of mine and had the same colour inside and out. I went for a warm green grey (F&B Light Grey 17) and the same inside. As most of my neutrals inside are from the same 'hue' family it was ok, but if they had been 'bluer' as you say it could have been tricky. If the tones are the same (how light or dark) and the colours mismatched it is very noticeable. If the colours are different then the tones need to be a bit different too. I would be inclined to make a selection that works with your inside colours first and then actually paint the samples on the outside to see if they work.

Hi Heba, Just an idea to show you colour. I wouldn't try to introduce too many more colours to what you want but whatever you do introduce, you need to try to make sure they match both sofas. You could do something similar in this picture with the cushions by having both colour cushions on either 1 sofa or both sofas. Or you could introduce a completely new colour like yellow. Thanks all for your comments! And sorry Sonia but the island is full of pastel coloured houses, would make me feel a bit nauseous to come home to one every day (assuming we ever go out again). Husband has vetoed anything darker so Downpipe will probably stay, but like the idea of painting the external sashes the same. The more minimal the better, from our POV. In other news our proposed plywood floors are reportedly the first on the island, so we'll be making a statement if nothing else!
