5mt750cm patio doors. Is it better to have sliding doors or bifold?

With sliding doors you will always have the end width which won't open.
With bi folds you can open up far more of the recess, however you have to consider the stack back factor. The wider the panels, the less stack back depth you will have, however the projection will be greater, lesser projection when stacked, more panels so wider stack..

Also consider whether the projection of the stack back is inside or outside and plan the interior or exterior accordingly.

Thank you Judith for your input. I am considering sliding doors with the possibility of both ends opening. One big glass will always be on the way but I believe it is better than a large stack at one end. Thank you again

Hi Mandy, thanks for taking the trouble to respond and for the photo. Love your garden, great that you can enjoy it so much. I think we're now fairly set on going for a sliding patio door, for the very reasons that you mention, that is the uninterrupted view without too many profiles in the way. We've been looking again today and saw a lovely one. We had a patio door in our previous property over twenty years ago but from what I saw today they're much nicer now. We already have a couple of French windows in other rooms but want the new kitchen to be more contemporary. The one we saw this afternoon was at a company called Clearview. The salesman assured us that their doors are the most secure (not sure if this is just a sales ploy or not). Either way I quite like the clear look of the sliding patio door so will have a good look around at other companies before we finally decide where to buy. Such a relief that one more decision has been made. Last week's trauma was finding a good brick match for the extension. Thanks again. So grateful for everyone's input here on Houzz.

We've just had the same dilemma, we also have underfloor heating. We've decided to go with grey wood effect porcelain tiles which can be used inside and out. Apart from concrete, porcelain seemed to be the only option we found. I've been told they are very difficult to damage, although obviously not impossible, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I have ceramic tiles in my utility room and they have been cracked twice but the porcelain tiles in my bathroom have been fine despite a few bottles being dropped on them.

Id go for folding out if at all possible - If your door is wider than the brick (from door to corner), this may look strange folding out though?.... Can you afford a bi-fold ?

Hi! A belated thank you to everyone who helped me finally make a decision! I went with a 3 pane sliding door (on a 3.7m opening) allowing me to open over half the width. I figured that with bifolds you would still have the frames stacked to one side which takes up a chunk of the opening as well. I chose the XP Glide from Express Bi-folds. Have found them professional and easy to deal with, we are just awaiting delivery now! The only bug I had is that their choice of handles were pretty basic, either a chunky (in my view an eye sore!) steel bar or a regular lever handle. They only come in black, grey or white! I was initially going with a very sleek 2 pane sliding door from Ultraline that had an integrated handle within the frame but the cost was too high for me to change it to a 3 pane. If I had the budget though I would have gone with them instead. Express Bi-folds do a slimmer framed option than XP Glide, I think it is called XP Panoramic. The 3 pane was more than Ultraline I think though. The consultant at Express-Bi-folds also advised against slimmer framed bonded glass options as if for any reason you damage the glass you have to replace the whole frame as well which is a major structural headache. Most slim framed options use this method though (as opposed to beaded - correct me if I am wrong!) so I would have chosen to ignore his advice if my budget allowed :-)
