House facade

We are selling, the neighbouring twin townhouse has changed their facade to dark grey. Should we change the rust red metal work to blue?
Any other suggestions for the appearance , the front garden has a Mediterranean appearance with the cream yellow walls.

What a cute house! I really like that it has both a Mediterranean and a modern look at the same time!

In terms of your dilemma, I think the rusty red goes well with the rest of the design and the garden, however you might want to consider to paint the bright yellow in a different color as it stands out slightly from the rest of the house? Maybe the same blue as the rest or an olive green?

If you wanted to do something drastic, you could embrace the Mediterranean design even further and paint the house white/cream and leave the wood work on the balcony in its natural colors. That would look amazing!

Excited to hear what you end up doing. Would love to see the "after" photos!

I like the look of the house and colours. If anything I would paint the garage door blue so as to stick to 3 colours. Given you're selling though I would probably leave any painting for the new people. If you opt for strong colours it could put people off although I appreciate some may not like your colourway but at least you wouldn't haven't spent a lot changing it. My only change would be to change the plant in the single pot on the balcony to something with height and to add some colourful flowers elsewhere. Do you also have a bistro table up there? If not I'd add one if its fits so you really sell the balcony

I rather like your facade. I would think twice about painting the brickwork, as this would be a maintenance headache, but cleaning it would brighten it up. Otherwise stucco and paint the front ( brickwork) only? i would clad your existing canopy in lead, but leep the existing shape. Is the tarmac yours? If you could change this to something lighter and softer, this would have a really big impact. Clad the stairs in slate or indian sandstone, get rid of the block screen and replace with glass, ( marine grade stainless steel fittings and door furniture) black iron railing for the steps.

I have a double height living room in the plan and my architect has proposed a glass facade covering 2/3rd of the external wall. It does look good but can someone explain how it would affect our house in the long run in terms of maintenance, heat trapping, privacy and so on. Is it advisable in those climatic conditions?

I think you should stay within house style. Contemporary design may be too much. Color should match with your house facades and windows. Maybe something like this? Solid wooden door with glass in the middle. Graffiti grey color. Could be quite good match with any colours (specially with your bricks facade).

Thanks @cushioncover - ours is one of two houses that are similar but not identical. We have three floors and our neighbours have two. They have recently had their reddy-brown wood cladding replaced with white uPVC. We would like something that looks a bit more natural e.g. plank effect fibre cement. The other houses on the estate are different and are mainly brown tones. I like the grey look as posted by @Victoria and have crudely photoshopped what this could look like if we were to clad the top half and paint the bricks at the bottom. Also sketched in a new drive! You'll notice I've broken my own rule and made the windows dark grey! This is because we've discovered you can have uPVC windows coated and that it bonds with the plastic, just like it would when making grey uPVC windows in the factory. So we're considering this. We have a garden room which is clad in cedar (similar colour to the photoshopped garage doors below) so it would be nice if they could tie in, but I don't want to clad in real cedar at the top of the house because I think it could end up looking a bit shabby due to the sun/rain? Has anyone seen fibre cement that looks like realistic cedar? I'd be interested in any thoughts in the below design? Thanks again :)

I also think that you should simplify the colour palate especially given that next door have just one colour.
I personally like next doors grey. For selling your house I would suggest mainly white with grey as an accent on the balcony and front door area. You have described next doors house as a twin but I think in white your house will look dominant and bigger (good news for selling)
