This are tiles with wooden pattern.

Hi, we're just finishing off a small ensuite with a similar shaped shower (photo) & decided to tile the sloping ceiling. Our builder & plumber said waterproof plasterboard & bathroom paint would be enough but we decided to go for the tiles & we're glad we did as the sloping roof does get wet. We tiled straight onto tile board which is stronger than normal plasterboard. We're still waiting for the fixed glass panel to go beside the shower door as the suppliers made it too big! Other than that, we're done. Good luck with yours.

We have boards in our shower cubicle. Love it. Wouldn’t have anything else. We have Bushboard Nuance. Not the cheapest but one of the best. Not sure if there’s something of interest on their website

Thanks Daisy for your comments. The actual leak is simply where the shower water was getting behind the tiles so once retiled properly or boarded it should be fine. I guess I was more trying to establish if when you affix the boards (Wetwall or Selkie) onto the wall and not on top of existing tiles then is it then the done thing to have to replaster. I kind of feel the job is maybe not big enough in this current climate where tradespeople are really hard to come by and therefore they have added the extra plastering to bulk up the job! Not really sure. Any other comments on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks K

Personal opinion: It's easy to get rid of (most) grouting by opting to use _large format_ tiles. These days, a lot of choice is available in tiles, say, 60cm x 60cm or 80cm x 80cm for per-sqm prices just like any smaller porcelain tile. Such formats allow tiling around, say, a bathtub with only six or eight tiles and consequently totally minimize grout lines. There's one thing going for shower panels, and that's that the price is kind of unbeatable. But then, as Warren Buffet says, "price you pay, value you get". It depends a bit what you're optimizing for.
