Can engineered wooded floors be sanded and stained or painted white?

I have them and was told they can only be sanded down once. Perhaps do a trial on a bit that isn't obvious or on any spare pieces you have , just to test it .

It totally depends on the thickness of your wood (wear) layer - these range from 2mm - 6mm and will determine how many times you can sand your floors.

Hi I'm in the process of buying a property which has wood effect tiles too in the kitchen and hall. I have opted to have Karndean flooring in my lounge which also opens up to the garden so I didn't want carpet. They come in many styles so maybe have a look at these? I have chosen one around £25per sq m which is the cheapest range. They are basically VInyl planks that get glued to your floor. Easy to clean and you don't have to worry about water warping the planks. Hope his helps

There is a limit to what you can do for them, providing they are a real wood veneer used on the top (and their made as a plywood / laminated style plank) you could probably sand or plain them down a bit but nothing is really going to stop the warping now. Sealing them after would help prevent it getting further in. could you not remove them and go back to the original floor?

This breaks down the finishes if it helps. The lacquer can also be satin or matt, the latter being the most popular. I’ve had a lacquered floor for 8 years. It hasn't faded but i have caused a couple of scratches (my own fault with a choice of door stop) but is resistant to dog claw scratches although can be quite slippery for them.
