Engineered wood floor - water damage

Hi all
Just wondered if anyone had any suggestions - we moved into our Victorian villa house in December which has engineered wood floors in the kitchen/hall sitting above the original planks (around 2-3 years old I think).
They were quite creaky when we moved in and worn under the island so I don’t think were particularly well looked after but my husband (trying to help 😬) washed the floors with a lot of water and left it to dry... Several planks have now warped and even those that still appear straight have got cracks between each other. We wouldn’t have chosen this flooring in a kitchen ourselves but can’t replace at the moment.
Has anyone got any suggestions? Can the planks be sanded or not as they’re engineered wood? I’m assuming we need to get the cracks resealed to avoid water getting down into the old floorboards below.
Thanks!
