Small bathroom/toilet dilemma
Comments (11)Is this the only toilet in the house? If it is then it can be preferable to keep a separate toilet, so that it can be used whilst someone is in the bath etc. There are space saving toilets and basins, but I think it would still be tight to fit both. Breaking down the wall does gain space in that you can block up a doorway and the space required to open the door....See MoreAny advice on a bathroom layout in a small space
Comments (29)Hi Richard, My thoughts, (and I'm not an expert, so just a personal opinion), but I think the wetroom idea will be a total nightmare to keep clean. I would also be concerned that it not would be the safest option with young children in the house. Unless you are going to meticulously dry the floor down after every shower, anyone using the room afterwards, washing their hands at the sink for example would need to walk on a wet and possibly slippery floor. Also not ideal if you walk around the house in socks.... wet feet.. :-/ Even with really good drainage the floor would remain wet for some time after each shower. These concerns may only bother me though, these things are so subjective, but I always consider how much work will be involved in keeping a room clean and looking great....and the fact that the bath would get wet and no doubt splatted with shampoo and shower gel every time someone showered would have me in there constantly cleaning. This option is definitely also the more costly option as tanking would be required, and I you plan to sell in a year or so, I am not sure it would add value equivalent to your spend on the room. I would go for a nice shower over bath arrangement, this can still look lovely and high end. For example:...See MoreHelp! Vanity units for bathroom and storage maximisation
Comments (4)Put marine ply under them in case you have a flood. And for storage, try cupboards above your head, ensuring they are deep enough for a loo roll. (Why are bathroom cabinets never that deep?!) Remember that you can always hack an IKEA or whatever unit if it's not quite the dimensions you want....See MoreHow can I maximise the space in a small ensuite bathroom layout?
Comments (4)Hi, I'd make your ensuite bigger. A 75cm squared shower is not fun. I'd go for at least 100 x 100cm. The bedroom is very generous compared to the ensuite and WIR. Considering your bed is unlikely to be longer than 200cm, then you won't need 150cm to walk around it. I'd give 50cm or more to the ensuite. And I think you won't be able to fit a cavity slider in that wall between the ensuite and WIR. I'd think about a shower up in the space you have the vanity. Then the WC next to it, with the back of the loo on the right wall. And the vanity/basin on the wall where you show the shower. So you see the vanity first when walking in. Other option is swap the shower and WC around. You can put a hinged door here, opening against the WC or shower as you can (if you want) close the door when they are being used. Another 50cm depth to the WIR will make a difference to your storage too....See MoreKerry Donnelly
