TV, couches, bay window and fireplace. How can they all fit nicely?
Comments (6)Rad in the bay to knock off the chill. Put a nice cover on it. Perhaps a built-in settee like one of these that are vented for the rad. If not seating, then put a nice game table and chairs there for entertaining and family time. One sofa and two chairs (all small apartment size) will be most flexible for arranging and rearranging. Comments (4)Hi - we have been installing TVs above fireplaces for the past 15 years. Our recommendation is that you should ideally leave a 100cm clearance from the top of the fireplace to the bottom of the TV and fit a protuding mantelpiece to deflect/minimise the effect of heat thermals. If the wall is thin you will need to add heat insulation behind the TV. The target UK price for the slim mount unit will be £599 including the ability to swivel it left and right (see photos attached). This solution is also ideal for moving the TV away from toddlers when not in use! Comments (4)Thanks Minnie and Gary. That sketch is fine. You've both suggested TV in the same place and build round that area. And that's where I was thinking of putting it too. The separate area behind the sofa adjacent to the fireplace looks inevitable, you've both suggested that. Which isn't a problem. I guess it's just too big of a room to try and make one space, everything would be too far apart. Just need to make sure I think carefully what that space will be used for so I don't waste it. Kids already have their own playroom so will be keeping it for the grownups!...See MoreIs tv mounted above a tall stove/fireplace too high
Comments (3)I agree with The Snug Ltd - Not only do T.V's above a fireplace ruin the focal point of the fireplace for me, it's just too hot. I found this interesting article which when read through explains why:- Digital Trends . I'm sure that the room can't be so small that it won't fit a small t.v on a little cabinet at the right height. We have one in our snug which rarely gets turned on, except for when the grandchildren come round. We watch TV in the lounge where it sits adjacent to the much larger fireplace. We did buy a larger T.V at one point, but took it back and changed it for a smaller one as it just dominated the room, and detracted from the Fireplace!...See MoreAkiva Projects Ltd
