Such a big board is a very good thing to have in your yard, especialy when you have kids! During this last, crazy period I found that chess are a very good and educational thing for kids at every age. I know that this statement is like reinventing the wheel, chess is not only a complicated game adults enjoy but also great fun for young children. Regardless of the child’s age, chess develops concentration, increases patience and positively affects the intellectual and emotional development of the child. The rules of chess are very simple and children can learn them already from around the age of three. Not everyone can or wants to become a professional chess player but everyone can use chess for learning. For this purpous I can recommend a book (net-boss.org/chess-puzzles-for-kids-by-maksim-aksanov) with bunch of great exercises, which will help you and your kids to be better in this :)

There are lots of little antique stores in smaller towns. I'm not talking about junk stores, I'm talking about little trendy cute antique stores. We found our coffee table at an antique store, for cheap, and it's durable and gorgeous. That's where I would start. You have to look past a bad paint job in those kind of stores though, because it could easily be refinished.

HI, yes agree, 2 or three pendants depending on the size over the peninsula, those Broadway Emery Vintage Mini pendant lights are good as they're only 20cm across. You'd need larger for the dining table. The Artisan Lamp holder with braided flex is just a pendant fitting that you have to put a shade on, so it wouldn't work unless you can find a shade that you like. Still best to go for items from the same range, You need a pendant light fitting for the dining room in the range of 300mm to 500mm wide depending on how wide and long the table is really. Regards the spots, keep those on the kitchen light switch as a separate entity, so on or off, and have separate spurs for your dining room and the island so that you can dim them and have them on or off without the kitchen lights. Make sure, as i said earlier that you buy dimmable switches and dimmable bulbs.
