POLL: Do you make your bed every morning?

There are both pros and cons to making your bed. A) If you make it, it looks neat B) If you don't make it, it's unappealing to house dust mites.

Somedays I make it with the duvet spead and sometimes I roll the duvet at the bottom and let the bed air. I also make sure I beat the bed to clear dead skin.

Supervintagegirl- have you every seen or read about "Extreme Irining" as a sport? There are World Championships in it. Got a book on it as a fun wedding present for a cousin who has been known to ask you to take of some item of clothing that you are wearing as you stand in front of her so she can iron it for you!! I kid you not .... My SIL not far behind. Spent 4hrs - FOUR FULL HOURS - Irining her 20 something year olds shirts the other evening !!! It would take less time to train them to do their own. Ho hum .... ironing can be very therapeutic tho ....

I still read to my 11 yr old son most nights, he has dyslexia and so I want to encourage him to enjoy stories. It's fantastic for his imagination and improves this vocabulary and understanding no end. These are so many fantastic children's books out there to be discovered and its such a special time together and we both love it. They are young for such a short amount of time I cannot imagine why parents don't make the time.

There are definitely good decorators and bad ones - I certainly agree with Jenny Boyd and A.S.! Some professionals are most certainly better than others and just because they do this for a living doesn't necessarily mean you're guaranteed a quality result every time. I've had superb results from good decorators, and shocking outcomes from others. I had some so-called professional decorators do the rest of my house and the finish was even worse than my kitchen efforts - paint splashes on hardware and glazing, poor coverage, dust dried into the workwork etcetc. Just shocking! So I should have qualified my statement with get a professional to do it if you can verify that they really know what they're doing and that their standards will match your expectations!

no chance..gets made when I change the bedding and that's enough for me.hate the idea of not allowing it to air and its nice and cool come sleepy time.

I never used to. I read somewhere that dust mites love made beds because they're warmer. But my cats now sleep on the bed in the day, so I loosely make it and pull a throw over it

yes, as soon as I get up & nothing annoys me more than when my partner gets up after me & leaves the bed unmade!

I make it but leave the duvet drawn back so it airs properly

I pull the bedding all the way back whilst I shower, eat, tidy and dress and make it just before I leave the house

I had heard that if you left your bed with the duvet pulled back for at least an hour, preferably with the windows open to get as much fresh air in the room then you will get rid of any living things - and they are there, those pesky little dust mites....!

If I can't even make your bed in the morning, how can I be expected to accomplish anything more during the day?!!

Also, if I happen to have 'one of those days', coming home to a made bed reminds me that I did actually complete one task today that I didn't want to..........it's unbelievably motivational!!

I roll the duvet to let the bed air when I first get up and make it once I'm showered dressed and breakfasted.

I absolutely must make my bed every morning or else I feel like the room is a mess and my morning is off. It's not just keeping tidy, but keeping sanity as well! :)

I just feel that life is one big tidy-up operation that I struggle to keep on top of.... so making the bed is an easy win as it's nearly 4 sq m of tidyness accomplished in about 10 seconds!

When I get out of bed in the morning I throw the duvet back and leave the bed to air while I get ready and eat breakfast. I then make and 'dress' the bed and quickly tidy my room so it's clean, fresh and welcoming when I go to bed, later that evening. Wonderful feeling ...

Yes always! As a child it was one of my daily tasks that contributed to me earning my pocket money at the end of the week- there was no way I was going to have 20 pence deducted for an unmade bed!!

I get up & make my bed first thing otherwise it would never get done! P.S. Dust mites are killed by washing your sheets at 60 degC every week!

Erm....hortonhearsawho2013.... do you wash your mattress and pillows at 60 degrees every week?! That's where the brutes hang out. I leave the duvet tidily folded back, straighten the bottom sheet and plump up the pillows every morning; it looks neat and I think it's healthier.
