Cost idea for garden make over
Comments (22)Your very welcome. I am sure you can turn your garden around with that sort of budget. Simple things like painting the existing fence will have a great effect with little outlay. Also, I think someone else has suggested combining gravel with artificial turf- this is a great idea. Perhaps you could run a path of artificial turf along the side passage then a narrow section in the garden with gravelled and planted areas. Reclaimed scaffold boards make nice decking if you can get hold of any. Salvage yards often have them ~£15 for a 3m length, I think it normally works out at about £15 per sqm for the planks. You could leave them bare for a quirky rustic look or stain them grey for a modern feel. Good luck with the garden!...See MoreAny ideas on what I could do with this space?
Comments (10)Hi Laura, I think you need to bear in mind that this is a walk way through to the dining area and it is at the bottom of the stairs. So we can't go for something very large. I would agree that a radiator cover is a good idea. In white is will help break the colour up and hide the radiator but it will also give a ledge. I would place a plant for a nice vibrant feel adding some great freshness to the space and maybe the odd accessories - so 'a' book with a candle or small vase. A picture above it will help bring some accent colour into the space which you can take from your own furnishings or introduced. Based on the width of cover you go for - I see a plug there - so you could also add another layer and height of lighting with a lamp. This will add a great feel to the space. I hope that helps :) All the best....See MoreAny ideas what color scheme to choose for the walls?
Comments (3)I think navy blue, green or green-blue would look good and bring the look up to date, or adding some funky wallpaper, something like a William Morris print which I’m seeing a lot in my local coffee shops and restaurants. The last picture is a local trendy restaurant, definitely a maximalist look!...See MoreUpdate my living Room. Any ideas??
Comments (34)Tracy. You’ve been getting a lot of good advice but I just thought I’d add a few thoughts. When I look at your current set up I see a classic and oriental feeling. I think this is timeless and just needs a refresh. Your sofas are a classic design and I think that recovering them in a more neutral fabric would work. But I think your curtains are really fresh and modern and it would be good to really layer on lots of cushions to tie in with the design. See attached other fabrics from Villa Nova which complement but don’t match your existing design. Loads of these layered up on a neutral linens effect background would look great and could be changed over time. For your walls, I actually don’t think dark blue is right. It’s very on trend right now and can look great in a smaller cosy room but your room is spacious and I’d personally keep that feeling of light. I know you don’t like wallpaper but a pale ivory type paper with a subtle colour or texture could look really elegant. I actually like your mahogany style furniture. It’s the tv stand I’d change along with maybe freshening up your lampshades. Minnie’s choices look great. Alternatively, some blue and white China lamp bases would look wonderful and pick out the Asian themes in your furniture. See photos attached and good luck...See MoreClare Jones
