On the red counter top how big of piece can we get without getting a seam or joint

Hi Andy,

Slab sizes vary a little from one manufacturer and color to another but typically slabs are 60-63" w x 120" long. Best advise is to find a good stone fabricator to work with as you select your stone. They can help you to determine if a seam is necessary and if so the best location for it. Hope this helps!

Hi, I would steer away from white. I am in similar situation like you and am an interior designer. There are lots of options but the one I'm more inclining to (in your case) is light grey like Farrow & Ball Pavilion Gray for example. It's pale but has a hint of grey tone in it which would create a really nice contrast between the warmth of the cherry wood. Also if you are using the top a lot, I'm using mine all the time, have you perhaps considered having a glass top? My top got really badly damaged by a oven cleaner gel when I put the tray on it and the whole surface just peeled off. In my case I want to protect it with glass. Just a thought... Do you think mixing something very modern like stone, metal or glass will work in an otherwise traditional setting? I plan to have a roll top in the middle of the room and then knock part-through to the current bathroom (the bathroom is moving next door into the single bedroom) and put the high level flush loo and shower around the corner. I like nooks and crannies and general quirkiness! If I could put a step in somewhere I would! The front of the current bathroom will then be walled shelving storage for shoes, I was thinking. Also, do you know much about the new perspex wall coverings you can get instead of tiles? It'll be metro tiles otherwise. Lastly, anyone experienced the bathroom/original floorboard/water-tight scenario? I really want the floorboards to stay. I get a bit carried away when it comes to my lovely house!!!
