Are these cabinets black or espresso?

I'm trying to decide whether I should paint my kitchen cabinets black or espresso. I like how these look in the pictures, but can't tell the true color.

They are stained with an espresso stain.

I have supermatt in my home and gloss in my holiday home. So one of each. Gloss is still a very good seller. Marks do show but are really easy to wipe off. Dark grey (I presume you mean dust grey) is more popular than black gloss. Matt doors do show marks but I find it only shows them when you're looking at the doors from a certain angle with light on them. Again easy to clean. You can't use polish on matt doors but you could on gloss. Both can be cleaned with a damp (not wet) cloth and buffed up with a microfibre duster but I have found Vuplex and a Magic Eraser the best to move mucky marks. Nothing to choose between them really so just go for your favourite choice.

I think black sinks and hobs look really smart, especially if in a black worktop. However, sounds like you have a wooden worktop? I'd go with stainless steel if thats the case

Photos would be helpful. I wouldn't ever use black on a wall or anywhere as many very dark colours 'read' as black in most situations. They are called 'chromatic blacks' as they look black but have some chroma or colour. This means they can be incorporated into a scheme or palette. Tanners Brown, Paean Black, Mahogany and Studio Green are all examples, there are lots.

Espresso is more fashionable at the moment, however, take it from me water splash marks are much more obvious on black than on white!
