what blinds can you get with sliding patio doors?

We are getting sliding patio doors.

I cant find a provider that does integrated blinds so I am trying to figure out what blinds would work with these doors.

We want something without strings like the honeycomb blinds but I am not sure that they would work with sliding doors?

I have sheer curtains with my sliding patio doors. They look very smart.

Hillary's do a "perfect fit" range which work with bifolds I believe

Hi, we're currently having a 4.5m wide Orangery built. If I could have afforded it I probably would have gone for bi-fold doors. As they were out of my price range I looked at sliding doors and French doors that open flat with 2 glass floor to ceiling panels either side. I went for the French doors as the sliding doors actually had less space when open. In my opinion there are some great looking sliding doors for larger spaces but the ones I saw didn't look great, Have you got any pics? The groove at the bottom of he sliding doors also put me off, a haven for dirt that you just can't quite ever get out.

Hi Mandy, thanks for taking the trouble to respond and for the photo. Love your garden, great that you can enjoy it so much. I think we're now fairly set on going for a sliding patio door, for the very reasons that you mention, that is the uninterrupted view without too many profiles in the way. We've been looking again today and saw a lovely one. We had a patio door in our previous property over twenty years ago but from what I saw today they're much nicer now. We already have a couple of French windows in other rooms but want the new kitchen to be more contemporary. The one we saw this afternoon was at a company called Clearview. The salesman assured us that their doors are the most secure (not sure if this is just a sales ploy or not). Either way I quite like the clear look of the sliding patio door so will have a good look around at other companies before we finally decide where to buy. Such a relief that one more decision has been made. Last week's trauma was finding a good brick match for the extension. Thanks again. So grateful for everyone's input here on Houzz.

The reason that you're dad is telling you this is because of the sizes of the doors. Each door will be less than 3ft wide, and ordinary sliding doors do not slide back completely behind the other, therefore, the gap that you walk through to get outside will be impeeded, probably by around 10-12 inches. When you take into consideration the width of the frame on both sides, your gap will be tiny, i'm hazzarding a guess at somewhere in the realm of 20-24 inches. Of course it is possible, you can have them whatever size you like. Just ask the window company what gap you'll be left with to walk through ! Other sliding doors ( the expensive ones ) - push out then slide over, making your gap larger. If you can afford it, then bi-folds will work, other than that two lovely large patio doors that open out mounted toward the outer edge of the building so that they fold as flat a possible agains the outside walls. We put these on one of our builds, and it's fabulously light and airy inside and the doors open a long way out and back These are the sort that you mean, and we have put them on builds, but you end up having to turn slightly sideways to go through them because of the diminished gap!

Hi Jennifer, Great question - firstly, I don't think that two different types of blinds will necessarily look odd, but it's a case of carefully matching them. However, I'm not sure panel blinds will have the desired effect of controlling the heat in a south-facing room. You say you have looked at PerfectFit blinds - these types of blinds can be made with honeycomb Pleated fabrics which help to control temperature extremes. Our ThermaShade Pleated fabrics are just like this.
