DIY kitchens Idea
Hi I have seen people recommending DIY kitchens on here. I wonder if anyone knows if they do a painted shaker where the join is not obvious, like per the attached rough drawing on a napkin just now in Costa! I have looked online & ordered samples where the finish looked what I'm after but unfortunately the gap was too obvious! Thanks.

Help! Ideas on how to furnish an open plan kitchen living room?
Comments (13)You have a lovely home to work with. I would say don't underestimate mirrors for making a room look twice as big. Have you considered giant mirrors, or mirroring an entire wall? How about the curved wall? I would pay attention to lighting also, as great lighting can make your home look a million dollars and more spacious. I would make a focal point with television resting on a gorgeous storage cabinet, place wall picture frames on wall where tv is placed, this will draw attention to the art and cabinet rather than the tv itself. I would get highback armchairs and use them for both dining and lounge seating with a sofa. I like those Victorian card tables on wheels, that fold up, multipurpose. Only buy furniture you absolutely love, don't follow trends, follow your heart, after all you want to feel good at home. Don't be half-hearted follow your dreams, be confident. Comments (5)Seems like quite a lot of upheaval for not a huge gain in space. Could the two spaces be made to work better where they are? Comments (2)I have a similar layout on a project I did recently, take a look at my page with Rogers-Bexhill there is a large L-Shape with Island and the door is situated in a similar position. 8 years agoHi.you could try the Burford ( also Howdens)
you also need to look at inside the panelling (I was in howdens with my mum this week). Other versions don't have a moulded seam so there's a visible gap ( if that makes sense!).

The reason we didn't proceed with Burford was because the joins are too wide (per photo). I've seen a gorgeous photo on Houzz of a Burford kitchen.
Just been to Howdens again & the Teweksbury looks nice in 2 colours because it covers more of the grain. The ancient white shows the grain a lot.
I am having cup handles on my drawers & knobs on my cupboards.

8 years agoOk so whilst browsing in B&Q I came across a sample cabinet door that looked just what I've been looking for. C&L Carisbrooke in Cashmere (new range) but have just been into another store & it looks more grainy there. I really do not want to make a mistake but am wondering if I am being too picky or will hate it. Can you see the grain in deVOL kitchens? I love those in the brochure but I know pics can be deceiving after all the B&Q pic I've attached looks deceiving too! What do you think?

Well deVOL are bespoke so you can pretty much choose anything you like and their "chippies" with make it.. It's the design and carpentry that makes these, plus the taste.. ... Fabulous wood, tends to be smooth with a matt painted finish or they have other lovely finishes like the Sebastian Cox .. But they and Plain English have a number of different ranges... Remember you can create the look with good matt paint.. and touch/open hinges.. I saw a fabulous kitchen range of cupboards that Bert and May are bringing out..
They are dark grainy and plain doors with little groove openings at the top... Gorgeous too... but different.. I love kitchens as much as any other room I focus on.. but different is always key.. Here's a pic for you to show you what's new that's coming out with their tiles, wood throughout which makes a difference too... it's little details....... Also if any company doesn't show you everything they have then it's not worth your time! ... : ))
