Should I have a light over dining table? Hello Houzzers, Can you advise please? Our kitchen extension is nearing the end of our building work phase and I need to decide on final lighting positions. It is a very big space so we are having an island with obligatory 3 pendant lights over. We will also have a dining table in the garden room end of the build. The electrician has left wires for a pendant light to go over the table but needs the final position before ceiling is plastered. Now I'm thinking that having a light will limit where we can put the table, eg if we want to move it in the future and also, (as I've not even thought about table size or bought one yet) its difficult at the moment to give a definitive position for the light. The kitchen is about 3weeks away from being fitted. So should I ditch the idea of a light over dining table?? Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi, Kitchen looks awesome. I like to go for f&b cornforth white, really is a subtle colour which allows the kitchen to really stand out. But it’s enough of a colour to add some interest and not just white. The blues looks nice but personally I find them all quite cold looking.

The room looks very modern and spacious and having 2 colours in a kitchen is very popular. With regards to wall units (see image below where shelves have been used) & fridge/freezers, it really is down to personal preference but American fridge/freezers are very bulky, but they do give a lot of fridge space, although the freezers do tend to be a little small. Shelving can look nice and it could keep costs down. Decisions, decisions :-) Here are some pics of shaker kitchens that our customers have sent us with 2 different colours that they have used in their kitchens. Hello again, We were originally getting Hammonds 'cashmere' colour TV cabinets all across the bottom of our TV wall plus two shelves on either side of the TV. But now we are reconsidering the cashmere colour. Any suggestions on what colour cabinets to go for and what colour walls to go to compliment a dark room(preferably Dulux)? This is the maximum brightness/natural light this room gets. Its quite dark on a very cloudy day. Attaching the current wall and also the cabinet/unit sketch. Hoping it'll give an idea of what we are trying to achieve. Ignore the colour in the sketch. My husband thinks they'll look too sterile/hospital like if we choose white shades but since that room is pretty dark and the cabinets will be the focal point, I don't know what wall-cabinet colour combinations to go for. The adjoining kitchen/dining room is Country Cream with greenish-grey gloss cabinets. Again that's also a dark room because of a massive Oak Tree. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
