Splashback and downlighting

what is the material of the splashback please? and the type of lights under the top cupboards? Thx!

Hi xuerebmichele,

The splashback is just painted glass, painted to a similar colour of the door and any splashback company can do this sort of thing.
In relation to the lighting, the under cabinet lights are pretty standard among kitchens, something like a square under mount led in warm white would give that effect -

Hi Jeanette, I would paint an horizontal strip over the tiles (same width as the width of your green wall more or less) with the same green color. I would also add some shelves above the sink where you could add a few (not too many) green items or green storage baskets and maybe a small kitchen garden with green herbs to use in your cooking. I would also change the cabinet handles for more stylish ones (not necessary expensive ones). And why not adding a curtain or a blind in a bold green you could shut at night? Good luck!

It is good that you have chosen to go with a kitchen that is cream/off white because this will definitely bring some light into the space and give a 'fresh' look to your kitchen. Depending on your budget, you could go for a light porcelain tile flooring or a light/medium wooden flooring as this would compliment the worktop well. You could introduce a glass splashback into the kitchen and simply paint the walls white rather than go for walls tiles, as this would give the space a contemporary look. By doing this, it would also help to bounce light around the room, you could also think about including some down-lights into the ceiling and under any wall cabinets. However, if you would like to go for wall tiles then a light, polished, good quality tile would be our recommendation.

Colourhappy sinking the fridge in the wall is my plan, just not right away. I don't even have to steal space, it'll fit into the 'triangle' but I would need to take the kitchen door away and move the utility door. I'll make do by adding an end panel to the right of it to blend it away when seen from in the dining room. Right now it has to stay where it is. As for tiles, I'm somewhat stuck because the worktop has a marbled vein though it. It's white but not brilliant white and next to white wall tiles, it'll look vanilla. The veining through it is grey with a tiny touch of copper/burnt orange through it. Hence why it's called Calacatta gold. I live metro tiles but it's to right here. There is herringbone on the floor so though I do live patterned tiles, again it needs to be simple. Right now I'm considering a glass slab. Any thoughts on that?

Perhaps look for a ceiling extractor instead of a canopy-unit (to build into the canopy)? These often require less height and the pipe can be placed on the side (left, right, back). Some have only remote control, others have buttons too. But plenty of build-in/undermount units have the option to place the motor max.3m away from the unit (please do regard accessibility though). A 15cm pipe would be sufficient. If the canopy is wider then the stove, you could add two leds on either side of the extraxtor unit. They could have their own switch, but a good electrician (that works with kitchen appliances often) can hook them on the on-switch of the unit (but then you can only use them with the unit on). Sidenote: A recirculation unit needs to be installed together with an exteractor fan to remove moist from the home. We use them in modern homes that have ventilation systems.
