Please Advice: Wall hangings.

please advice what kind of wall hangings would look good in a master bedroom, above the bed mostly. And on other walls in the room.
Don't want to put Our pictures and alphabets. something classy not funky. please guide.

Comments (13)Thanks for all your comments, I shall try to fill in a few gaps I'm aiming at a reclaimed oak floor throughout, but it will depend on the funds I can get together in the next couple of months (fingers crossed) The orange wall does look like a colour block on the picture but I've included a sample of how it looks close up I must admit that I did think it was a bit too much but it will be mainly covered with artwork with lighter frames ( I collect aboriginal bark art so that might have coloured my choice of paper ) The sofa is a really large ( 8 - 10 seat ) corner sofa, chocolate brown leather, cushioned in chocolate brown and lighter beige ( haven't got photos of it because it's still in storage ) as I've mentioned most of my furniture is mid to dark (20's / 30's ) oak bookcase, bureau and display cabinet ... pretty brown all round I took a couple of photos on the way past earlier but the light wasnt too good and the wide shot I took made the window wall look convex but it really isn't Thanks again for your input...See MoreHi everyone, advice please on bare wall? Comments (3)It looks as though you don't use the space currently because I see cat dishes where one would stand to access storage on the existing ledge. Shallow storage squares and/or rectangles would be a possibility, but access to them and keeping them and the contents dusted/wiped would be a chore. A large-scale light colored abstract wallpaper design might work to reflect light back into the room A dark one would absorb the light from the room. Comments (3)I’ve just had the same issue and I opted to get all walls plastered then sanded down to give completely smooth walls. They were then painted and the finish was excellent. I paid for tradesmen to do all of this as I wouldn’t have achieved such a quality finish....See More

8 years agoI would hang a large canvas art piece above the bed that is in shades of cream and white. No frame. Do a wrapped canvas around wood backing.

How about carved wooden fretwork panels above the bed, see attached images. Maybe not as large as these, as you have large headboard. Also the room needs a few decorative touches, how about real or faux orchids on the bedside table.
I would also suggest a large rug to warm the room up, and would suggest moving the sofa away from the window to the bottom of the bed, if it's the same width, or alternatively buy an upholstered ottoman the same width as bed. I can't really see what lighting you have, but it looks like the room could take a large statement chandelier? If the mirror isn't attached to chest of drawers then remove this and replace with a large freestanding ornate mirror alongside.
